
CANTON — Defending champion Eugene McCune leads a field of 86 players for this week’s PBA50 Strike Zone Central Classic at Strike Zone Lanes.
The tournament begins with a practice session at 3 p.m. Friday, followed by a pro-am at 6:30 p.m.
The first squad will bowl eight qualifying gams at 9 a.m. Saturday, followed by the second squad at 3 p.m. The field will then be cut to the top 16, who will return Sunday at 9 a.m. for round-robin match play to determine a champion.
The current tournament field includes many area players, including Dean Billings, Jim Bowen, Brian Buehler, Ed Carter, Matt Coffelt, Dale Csuhta, Steve Easterday, Don Hogue, Tony Johnson, Mike Spitale Jr., Mark Suchan and Tony Varn.
In addition to McCune, other top PBA senior pros in the field include Tom Baker, Michael Haggitt, Jack Jurek. John Shreve Jr., Sammy Ventura and Jeff Zaffino.
