Harris tops Tri-County Masters

WOOSTER — Brandon Harris rolled a 492 two-game series to stop Paul Brown and claim the 2022 Tri-County Masters championship at Triway Lanes.

Brown finished with a 461 after stopping Chris Polk 458-394 in the semifinals.

Harris, who won $500 and the traditional champion’s belt for the title defeated Tony Carson 490-479 in the semifinals.

A field of 32 players reached the match-play round after five qualifying games involving 95 players the previous week. The remaining 32 were then reduced following a series of two-game matches by team.

This marked the sixth season the event has been held at Triway, with each participant in the match-play round taking to the lanes with their choice of entrance music.

Bowles, Bacher top doubles sweeper

AKRON — Jason Bowles and Kyle Bacher took honors during the Mac’s Cabana scratch doubles sweeper at Spins Bowl Akron.

The tournament format was four qualifying games followed by a stepladder finals involving the top four teams. The event drew 28 teams.

Bowles and Bacher topped Robert Sample and Tyler Meredith for the win and $808. Sample and Meredith won $460.

Other top finishers in order of finish included 3, DJ Assaff-Eric Bator $260; 4, Frank and Mandi Testa, $180; 5, Matt Frock-John Kertis, $160; 6, Vince Yoder-Tony Carson, $140; and 7, Dean Fargo-Casey Cohagan, $120.

The next doubles event is at 6 p.m. March 20 at Spins Bowl Akron. Entry fee is $100 per team.

College Bowl Tournaments singles set

CANTON — College Bowl Tournaments will hold a singles event at 10 a.m. March 12 at Eastbury Bowling Center.

Entry fee is $65 with bowlers rolling four qualifying games over eight lanes before the field is cut to the top eight for one-game elimination matches according to seed. First place will play $500 based on 40 entries.
