ANDERSON NAMED COACH OF YEAR
WOOSTER — Corby Anderson, who led Triway High School’s girls to the 2022 Division II state championship, has been selected as the Ohio High School Athletic Association’s coach of the year for girls bowling.
Anderson, who was nominated by the Ohio High School Bowling Coaches Association, was selected for “coaching performance, lifetime community involvement, school involvement and philosophy of coaching,” according to a letter from OHSAA executive director Doug Ute.
“The OHSAA sent out the email to an address at Triway, and I don’t have an account there,” Anderson said. “The athletic director found the email and forwarded it to my Yahoo account.
“It caught me completely off guard. I have no clue on how it is selected.”
For Anderson, who has coached at both the high school and college levels, it is his first major coaching award.
“This is really a neat thing,” Anderson said.
