CHANGES COMING
With the Inter-Valley Conference adding bowling as a varsity sport for the 2023-24 season. With that move, the SCHSBC will be losing Conotton Valley, East Canton, Claymont, Sandy Valley and Tuscarawas Central Catholic as conference members, taking the conference to 18 teams for next season.
“With the changes due to the IVC adding bowling, we will be returning to a three-division format for the 2023-24 season, eliminating the Southeastern Division,” conference president Bill Snier announced during the event.
There also will be a change in the administrative duties for the conference as Snier announced his resignation from the president’s position he has held for four years.
“I remain committed to high school bowling,” Snier told conference coaches following the banquet, “but I find with the responsibilities of my website (www.snieronbowling.com) and my work duties, my time has become more limited even though I am technically retired.”
Commissioner T.J. Owens also announced a new scholarship that will be awarded beginning this season from the Warner family in memory of the late Thomas Warner, a former bowler at Louisville High School. The scholarship will be available to conference bowlers and is renewable. For information, see conference coaches or contact Owens.
The conference also thanked its sponsors for their contributions during the season, including Heighway Awards and Apparel (Jim and J.C. Heighway), Game Time restaurant (Shawn and Amy Wilson), Park Centre Lanes league bowlers, Ten Back Pro Shop (Frank and Mandi Testa), the Northeast Ohio Travel League, Hosner Carpet One (Mike lLucius) and www.snieronbowling.com (Bill Snier), who sponsored special awards and contributed toward the final banquet.
“We also want to thank all of the bowling centers who hosted us this season, including 12 over the five-county area,” Snier said.
Also playing key roles in the conference this season were Lake coach Pat King, who handled statistics; Hoover coach Jeff Sabella, who assisted with the website; and Jim Heighway, who served as awards, affairs and functions director.
