U.S. Senior Open: Adcock, Lint top field after second round

GREELEY, Colo. — After six more games of qualifying at the PBA Senior U.S. Open, the top of the leaderboard remains unchanged.

Tom Adcock of Forsyth, Ill. and Troy Lint of Blandon, Pa. maintained their positions in first and second place during the second round of qualifying at Highland Park Lanes in Greeley, Colo. 

Adock led Round 1 with a 1,459 (+259) six-game series and moved to 2,860 (+460) through 12 games. Lint sits just seven pins behind the pole position.

Both players are on C-squad and have bowled on the double-burn and burn squads so far. They will compete on the fresh 39-foot Aulby pattern for the final round of qualifying on Saturday morning.

Steven Badovinac, who lives about 75 miles south in Parker, Colo., sits in third overall and atop A-squad at +359.

Steve Kloempken (+316) and defending champion Lennie Boresch Jr. (+295) round out the top five.

Parker Bohn III, the reigning PBA50 Player of the Year, averaged 241 to jump from 48th place to sixth on Friday.

Bohn is trailed by a trio of fellow Hall of Famers in Pete Weber (+286), Chris Barnes (+285), Amletto Monacelli (+267). Former PBA50 Player and Rookie of the Year Tom Hess (+264) rounds out the top 10.

Akron’s Don Hogue has moved up to 12th with 2,641 after 12 games. Kevin Anderson is the cut line after two rounds with 2,565.

Canton’s Tony Johnson sits 126th with 2,128 in the 136 player field.

After Saturday’s six games, the field will be trimmed to the top 24 players for round-robin match play. Tennessee’s Kevin Anderson occupies 24th place through 12 games at +165 — a 213.75 per game pace.

Match play will begin on Sunday and conclude on Monday evening. The top five players after all 42 games will advance to the stepladder finals at 9 p.m. ET on Monday night. 

Competition resumes at 11 a.m. Saturday with Adcock and Lint’s C-squad, followed by A-squad at 2:30 p.m. B-squad will begin the final qualifying round at 6 p.m.
