NORTH CANTON — Nicole Stiteler, Ohio State United States Bowling Congress association manager, has been named head coach of Walsh University’s men’s and women’s bowling programs.
Stiteler, who has served as a Cavaliers assistant for the past three seasons, becomes only the second coach for the seven-year-old program.
J.C. Heighway, a Walsh graduate and former Hoover High School coach and Stark County High School Bowling Conference commissioner for 10 seasons, announced his resignation following the 2022-23 season. The move was announced July 26.
Stiteler has numerous years of experience in the bowling industry as well as high school and college coaching experience. She has led the bowling teams at Copley and Stow-Munroe Falls high schools and the University of Akron before joining the Walsh staff.
She was the assistant coach on the Cavaliers’ Ohio Bowling Conference championship team during the 2021-22 season.
During her bowling career, she has been a member on numerous committees such as tournament rules, legislative and policy, procedures and strategy as well as chairman of youth committees, youth leaders, and scholarships at the local and state level.
“I am very excited and honored to continue my coaching career as head coach with Walsh University,” Stiteler stated in a university news release. “I can’t wait to ‘hit the lanes’ with the teams this fall and be a positive impact on their livesfor the short time I am with them.”
