SOB Honor Roll: Week 5

THIS WEEK’S 300 GAMES

SCOTTY SHIELDS: Shields, a 35-year-old Minerva right-hander, rolled his 22nd career 300 in the Consumers National Bank league at Minerva Bowl. Shields, who is employed by Abrasive Supply Company, hit 300 in Game 1 of his 782 series. He has 10 career 800 series with a high of 857. “In practice, I thought I brought the wrong ball up. I threw two practice balls and didn’t like either one of them,” said Shields, who used a Storm Revenant for his milestone.

JEREMY THOMPSON: Thompson, a 42-year-old Alliance right-hander, had his third career 300 game in the Tycor Roofing league at Eastbury Bowling Center. Thompson hit 300 in Game 2 of his 706 series. He has a high career series of 795.

TOM WHIPKEY: Whipkey, a 48-year-old Navarre right-hander, had his first career 300 in the Hannon Electric league at Park Centre Lanes. Whiskey hit 300 in Game 1 of his 752 series, which also was his career high. “In the eighth frame, I threw the best ball of my game. I was clean at the release and watched it smash the pocket,” said Whipkey, who used the Hammer Obsession for his game. “I went back to the circle feeling good only to realize that the computer had frozen and did not record the strike. Chuck (Spencer) had to come reset the computer. Even it couldn’t believe I was on eight.”

BRAD ROBERTS: Roberts, a 40-year-old right-hander, had his 20th career 300 in the Spectrum Orthopaedics league at Park Centre Lanes. Roberts hit 300 in Game 1 of his 783 series. He has a career high series of 834. “All the strikes felt great. It doesn’t matter how many 300s you have, they are all still exciting,” said Roberts, who used a DV8 Collisiion for his milestone.

OTHER 300 GAMES REPORTED THIS WEEK: TJ Charles (Station 300 Akron); Eric Randazzo (Spins Bowl Akron); Korey Herron (Wabash).
