NORTH CANTON — Area high school bowling will officially kick off with the annual Early Bird Tournament at 9 a.m. Nov. 18 at Park Centre Lanes.
A total of 14 teams from the Stark County High School Bowling Conference will be represented in the event, which will feature two regular games and 12 Baker System games before the fields for both boys and girls are cut to the top eight for best-of-five Baker System match play by seed.
Conference teams scheduled to participate include Alliance, Central Catholic, GlenOak, Green, Jackson, Lake, Lake Center Christian, Louisville, Marlington, Massillon, McKinley, North Canton Hoover, Triway and Perry. Also in the field is East Canton from the Inter-Valley Conference.
The oil pattern will be a the PBA50 45-foot Dick Weber.
The conference’s regular-season play begins with three matches Nov. 20.
STATE TOURNEYS
Only four-person teams will be registered for the Ohio State USBC Women’s Championship, set for March 16 through April 28 at Bowlero Lanes Fostoria (team) and the Toledo Sports Center (doubles and singles).
Entry fee is $30 per event per bowler, with two shifts in each event offered during those weekends.

STRIKE ZONE: Strike Zone Lanes in Canton will hold a 9-pin, no-tap tourney at 5 p.m. Nov. 12. Entry fee is #$40 with bowlers rolling four games. See Strike Zone Lanes Facebook page for information.
HIT DEM POCKETS: HDP will hold its doubles Sunday Sweeper at 4:30 p.m. Nov. 19 with a $120 entry fee per team at North Woods Lanes in Macedonia. Bowlers will bowl six games during the handicap event. COLLEGE BOWL TOURNAMENTS: The next College Bowl Tournaments event is a singles at 10 a.m. Nov. 18 at Eastbury Bowling Center. Entry fee is $65, with bowlers rolling four qualifying games before the field is cut for match play. TRIWAY LANES: Triway will host a scratch sweeper at 11 a.m. Nov. 12 with a $30 entry fee. Go to Triway Lanes’ Facebook page for details. In addition, the center is holding a Mix it Up 2 N 1 team tournament at 6 p.m. Nov. 22. This will feature two scratch tournaments — team and individual — in a fours-game sweeper. OHIO MATCHPLAY TOURNAMENTS: This group, limited to bowlers age 50 and older, will hold its third anniversary Veteran’s Day Event at 1 p.m. Nov. 11 at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl in Columbus with a $110 entry fee.
