Youth tourney report: Midwest, Ohio USBC, Pepsi districts complete play

BEAVERCREEK — The team of Drew Parker and Anthony Conty, the No. 8 seed following qualifying, shot 440 during the final round to top an 85-team field in the 18U division to captured the Midwest USA Scholarship Tournaments adult-junior doubles its Beaver-Vu Bowl.

The team of Joey Hoelscher and Nick Barrett were the qualifying leaders with 1,820 after four games. The field was then cut to the top 16 teams for three two-game rounds, with the field being cut in half each time until four remained.

Parker and Conty finished 43 pins ahead of second-place Bryan Brandt and Michael William II (402), with Zachary Abbott and Kaleb Shovestull (388) taking third and Nicholas Maiwesky and Cameron Singer (364) finishing fourth.

In the 14U division, the team of Brayden George and Rob Horton took honors, shooting 440 in their final two games.

The Ohio 7th-12th Grade State Doubles championships are set for 10:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. April 26 at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl in Columbus with an all-Baker System format.

OHIO YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS

NEW PHILADELPHIA — The Ohio State USBC Youth Championships tournament completed play April 13 at Wabash Lanes with unofficial champions being crowned in several divisions.

Rylan Slusser captured the Division A all-events boys scratch won with 2,095 total pinfall, with Payton White taking second with 2,085 and Quinn Dean third with 2,022.

In Division A girls, Nevaeh Chapman took honors with 1,786, followed by Samantha Jay with 1,562.

PEPSI TOURNAMENT

The Ohio State USBC announced its scholarship winners in each district for the 2025 Pepsi Championships held at various centers.

Division 2, which includes Mahoning, Portage, Summit and Trumbull counties, was held at Freeway Lanes of Warren.

Division 3, which includes Carroll, Columbiana, Stark, Tuscarawas and Wayne counties, was held at Legacy Lanes and Lounge in Coshocton.
