MACEDONIA — Hit Dem Pockets will be holding its Masters Scratch Tournament at 10 a.m. May 24 at North Woods Lanes.
Entry fee is $140, with bowlers rolling eight qualifying games before the field is cut for bracket-style single-game eliminator match play. First place will be worth $2,500, based on 50 participants. Oil pattern will be the Kegel Titanium 44-foot pattern.
The field is capped at 60 players.

COLLEGE BOWL TOURNAMENTS
The College Bowl Tournaments series finale is set for 10 a.m. May 31 at Park Centre Lanes in Canton.
The event is open to bowlers who have bowled at least four o the CBT series events during the 2024-25 season. That list includes 42 players, with $2,055 being added to the prize fun for this event.
Eligible players include Branden Ball, Brian Ball, Chase Barstow, Tony Carson, Brandon Clifford, Matt Coffelt, Ray Cook, Ray Deckman, Bob Eckenrode, Jim Fellows, Josh Haddad, Mark Herdlick, Steve Hlabse, Joe Hostetler, Adam Kutz, Brandon Leggett, Mike Leggett, Alex Lincoln, Eric Long, Alex McCourry, Brett McCourry, Dave McLaughlin, John Price, John Randolph, Tucker Robbins, Robert Sample, Barry Sand, Kevin Schott, Chris Simon, Derrick Simon, Cooper Smith, Charles Spencer, Mike Spitale Jr.,, Jess Sustarsic, Ryan Suter, Frank Testa, Ryan Trowbridge, Scott Vandegrift, Jack Wells, Jim Williams, Dexter Worthy and Keith Zeigler.

AKRON OPEN: The sixth annual Akron Open will return to Station 300 in Akron on Aug. 23 and 24 with a $130 entry fee.
The Open will consist of a six-game qualifier, with shifts available at 9 a.m. or 4 p.m. before the overall field is cut on a 1-in-5 ratio for a Sunday’s cashers round at 9 a.m. That group will bowl five more games with pinfall carrying over. The field then will be cut again to the top 24 for five more games before the final cut to the top five for a traditional stepladder finals.
Ashland’s two-handed lefty Cassidy Schaub is the two-time defending champion in the event. Jody Boyd remains the tournament promotor.

OHIO MASTERS: The 2025 Ohio Masters is set for Aug. 30 and 31 at HP Lanes with a new format and entry fee for the eighth annual event. This event is open to all adult bowlers who are sanctioned and live within an Ohio State USBC association. It also is open to adult bowlers who bowled a minimum of nine games in an Ohio sanctioned association league during the 2024-2025 season, but the bowler doesn’t have to do both. Bowlers will bowl an eight-game qualifying round Aug. 30 with a $125 entry fee beginning at noon. There is a maximum field of 144 players. The field then will be cut to the top 32 based on 128 entries, with a minimum of 24 bowlers being taken to the Aug. 31 match-play rounds. During match play, players will be seeded into a two-game single-elimination, total-pinfall matches until there is a champion. No youth bowlers are permitted in this event. LEGACY LANES: The team of Nate Johnson, Zack Forker and Richard Stevens captured the Scratch Bakers Trios event at Legacy Lanes and Lounge in Coshocton on Sunday. Second place went to the team of Tony Carson, Chris Steele and Bob Eckenrode, with third place going to Adam Webb, Brett McCourry and Adam Kutz in the 13-team field. HILES TOURNAMENTS: This week’s Friday Super Sport Shot Series event will feature the U.S. Open No. 4 oil pattern at Mt. Lebanon Lanes in Pittsburgh. The tourney begins at 8 p.m. with a $45 entry fee, $40 for juniors and bowlers age 55 and older. The format is four games before the field is cut to the top 32 for a pod-style bracket match-play format. Four bowlers will meet for the title. Last week’s event drew 127 bowlers, with Nathan Brown earning the win. The remainder of the top four included David Parr, Don Hipkiss and David Lash. Cameron Kilgore was the top qualifier on the PBA Cheetah pattern with 795 for four games. OBC HOLDS EVENT
The Ohio Bowling Conference will be holding its first Youth Scholarship and Recruiting tournament July 19 at Columbus Square Bowling Palace in Columbus. Entry fee is $50, and is open to all high school players with SMART scholarships being paid out. The event will offer an opportunity for athletes and parents to meet with OBC coaches at 10 a.m. before the event begins at noon. JTBA: The 45th JTBA Championship is set for 9 a.m. June 1 at Park Lanes in Heath. The event is open to all JTBA members in good standing. Entry fee is $75 preregistered and $85 for day of the event. There is $7,500 added for this event. Bowlers will roll four qualifying games until the respective divisions are cut for double-elimination single-game match play.
