NORTH CANTON — The College Bowl Tournaments series officially ends May 31 with its singles finale at 10 a.m. at Park Centre Lanes.
Only bowlers who have participated in a minimum of four CBT series events during the 2024-25 season are eligible to participate in the scratch singles event.
Players eligible, according to tournament director Jeff DiMarzio, include Branden Ball, Brian Ball, Chase Barstow, Tony Carson, Brandon Clifford, Matt Coffelt, Ray Cook, Ray Deckman, Bob Eckenrode, Jim Fellows, Josh Haddad, Mark Herdlick, Steve Hlabse, Joe Hostetler, Adam Kutz, Brandon Leggett, Mike Leggett, Alex Lincoln, Eric Long, Alex McCourry, Brett McCourry, Dave McLaughlin, John Price, John Randolph, Tucker Robbins, Robert Sample, Barry Sano, Kevin Schott, Chris Simon, Derrick Simon, Cooper Smith, Charles Spencer, Mike Spitale Jr., Jeff Sustarsic, Ryan Suter, Frank Testa, Ryan Trowbridge, Scott Vandegrift, Jack Wells, Jim Williams, Troy Workman, Dexter Worthy, and Keith Zeigler.
Entry fee is $65, with $2,055 being added to the prize fund for this event. One out of two bowlers will cash overall, with first place worth $875 and the final spots paying $100, based on 40 entries.
Bowlers will roll four qualifying games before the field is cut to the top eight for single-game elimination match play by seed. The event will be on a house oil condition.

HIT DEM POCKETS: Hit Dem Pockets will hold a doubles shoot at 5 p.m. June 8 at North Woods Lanes. Entry fee is $120 per team. Format is five games per team. HIT DEM POCKETS QUEENS: Hit Dem Pockets also has announced the date for its annual Queens Tournament, which is set for 10 a.m. June 21 at North Woods Lanes in Macedonia. Entry fee is $125, with bowlers rolling eight qualifying games before the field is cut for basket-style single-game elimination match play by seed. First place will pay $2,000 based off 50 entries. The oil pattern will be the 2023 PWBA Cleveland Regional pattern. HILES TOURNAMENTS: The Mt. Lebanon Summer Sports Shot Series continues at 8 p.m. May 30 with the 2025 PBA Shark pattern being used at Mt. Lebanon Lanes in Pittsburgh. Entry fee is $45, with discounts for juniors, seniors ages 55 and older and U.S. veterans. Bowlers roll four games until the cut to the top 32 for pod style match play. Last week’s event on the PBA Scorpion pattern drew 117 entries, with Tyler Meredith taking honors. The remainder of the top five included Eddie Zuzak, David Mason and Mark Walters. AKRON OPEN: The sixth annual Akron Open will return to Station 300 in Akron on Aug. 23 and 24 with a $130 entry fee. The Open will consist of a six-game qualifier, with shifts available at 9 a.m. or 4 p.m. before the overall field is cut on a 1-in-5 ratio for a Sunday’s cashers round at 9 a.m. That group will bowl five more games with pinfall carrying over. The field then will be cut again to the top 24 for five more games before the final cut to the top five for a traditional stepladder finals. Ashland’s two-handed lefty Cassidy Schaub is the two-time defending champion in the event.Jody Boyd remains the tournament promotor. OHIO MASTERS: The 2025 Ohio Masters is set for Aug. 30 and 31 at HP Lanes with a new format and entry fee for the eighth annual event.
This event is open to all adult bowlers who are sanctioned and live within an Ohio State USBC association. It also is open to adult bowlers who bowled a minimum of nine games in an Ohio sanctioned association league during the 2024-2025 season, but the bowler doesn’t have to do both. Bowlers will bowl an eight-game qualifying round Aug. 30 with a $125 entry fee beginning at noon. There is a maximum field of 144 players. The field then will be cut to the top 32 based on 128 entries, with a minimum of 24 bowlers being taken to the Aug. 31 match-play rounds. During match play, players will be seeded into a two-game single-elimination, total-pinfall matches until there is a champion. No youth bowlers are permitted in this event. YOUTH EVENTS
OBC: The Ohio Bowling Conference will be holding its first Youth Scholarship and Recruiting tournament July 19 at Columbus Square Bowling Palace in Columbus. Entry fee is $50, and is open to all high school players with SMART scholarships being paid out. The event will offer an opportunity for athletes and parents to meet with OBC coaches at 10 a.m. before the event begins at noon. JTBA: The 45th JTBA Championship is set for 9 a.m. June 1 at Park Lanes in Heath. The event is open to all JTBA members in good standing. Entry fee is $75 preregistered and $85 for day of the event. There is $7,500 added for this event. Bowlers will roll four qualifying games until the respective divisions are cut for double-elimination single-game match play.
