Tourney report: College Bowl series set for 2025-26; Angelo tops PBA regional

CANTON — The College Bowl Tournament series will return for its ninth season with its initial singles event Sept. 20 at Park Centre Lanes.

The series, which will include monthly events through May, includes four singles and four doubles events (including two for teams of one 50-and-older and one under age 50) before its final year-end singles on May 9. 2026 at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes.

Entry fees remain $65 per event and $130 for doubles teams. Formats remain four qualifying games before field are cut for single-elimination match play. All events begin at 10 a.m.

To participate in the finale event, bowlers must participate in at least four regular events during the season.

PBA REGIONAL

BOWLING GREEN —Top-seeded Brad Angelo stopped No. 2 seed Michael Clark Jr. of North Olmsted 226-216 to capture the PBA50 Gary Schluchter Memorial Central Midwest Classic on Sunday at Al-Mar Lanes in Bowling Green.

Angelo earned the top seed by just one pin over Clark 3,972-3,971 following 17 total games. Clark, who captured the PBA Park Central Lanes 50-50 Central Open last season with Dean Billings for his first title, stopped super senior William H. Fabian 226-203 in the semifinal match to face Angelo.

The opening match saw Fabian stop Lewis Center’s Dan Higgins Jr. 259-258. The event drew 58 players, with 29 advancing to the Advancers’ Round following the eight-game qualifier. Randy Weiss led qualifying with 1,945, followed by Chris Barnes (1,870). Clark was No. 5 while Angelo was 14th.
