Ohio State USBC: Massillon’s Testa among four enshrinees into Hall of Fame

COLUMBUS — The Ohio State USBC held ceremonies in May to honor its 2025 enshrinees class for the Ohio Bowling Hall of Fame.

There were three enshrinees in the Superior Performance Amateur category, including Massillon’s Mandi Testa, Parma’s Mark Stibora and Cincinnati’s David Callery, and one in Meritorious Service — Washington Court House’s Robert Bobbitt.

The Superior Performance award is for those bowlers who have participated in sanctioned/certified bowling in Ohio for 15 years or more, with outstanding accomplishments in any USBC or Bowling Centers Association of Ohio certified leagues and/or tournaments, and have at least one actual state, national or professional title.

Meritorious Service honors are for anyone contributing outstanding service to the general welfare and progress of the game of bowling in the state of Ohio for a period of 15 years.

“I was deeply humbled to be inducted into the Ohio State USBC Hall of Fame this May. While I was certainly thrilled, it was the realization that I was joining the ranks of the truly outstanding women who have been honored before me that left me overwhelmed with emotion and a deep sense of gratitude,” Testa said in a Facebook post. “As a young bowler, I had always dreamed of being considered among the best from Ohio. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

Here is a look at the enshrinees, with information provided by the Ohio State USBC:

MANDI TESTA

A nurse executive for the Cleveland Clinic who, along with her husband Frank, owns Ten Back Pro Shop at Park Centre Lanes in North Canton. She comes from a family of bowlers and is continuing the legacy by encouraging her children to follow in her footsteps. Mandi has chalked up titles in the TNBA as the 2006 doubles champion along with her partner, Nancy Scott, and in 2008 partnered with Kim Mann she captured the Ohio Women’s USBC doubles scratch title. In 2021 Mandy and teammates were Ohio State Women’s USBC 4-person team champions. She has placed second in the National 600 and National 700 Clubs in 2022. She also competed in the Ohio Queens Tournament, finishing in the top five twice. She also has claimed 15+ first place team scratch titles, competing in both the Summit County USBC and the Stark County USBC; first place doubles scratch five times; first place singles in 2021 and established a city record with an 803 series; and has 1st place titles in the all events scratch in Summit County (2021-22), and Stark County in (2020-21) and (2022-23).

Her highest average was 227 in 2010-2011. She also owns eight 300 games. Her highest series rolled in 2019 was 814 and she also has four more to her credit. As a professional, she bowled in the US Open twice and cashed both times. Some of Testa’s other honors are the Mary Hurt “Star of Tomorrow” in 1993 from Akron WBA; induction into the Tri-County Hall of Fame in 2021; named Akron WBA Bowler of the year multiple times; 2008 TNBA Akron Bowler of the year; Ohio WBA All- Star team in 2011 and 2021; and fourth high USBC record for a one woman, two-man game of 867.

MARK STIBORA

Stibora bowled for 45 years competing in local, state, and national tournaments and left his name in each. Mark rolled a 300 game in the 2002 ABC national tournament in Billings, Mont. He also has 60 300 games, 15 800 series with a high of 836, and his highest average came in 1981 with a 236. Mark also has bowled over 400 700 series. In 1979, Mark was named Ohio State Bowling Association all-events champion, and in 1980, the Ohio State Bowlers Association singles champ. In 1983 he, along with the members of his team were named Team Match Game champions. In 1991, he won the doubles title of the PBA Headquarters Regional Tournament and captured the Championship in the PBA Joe Firment Regional Tournament. He was part of the Greater Cleveland BA All Star Team in 1981, ’83, ’84, ’93, ’94, ’95, and ’96. He also was a member of the BPA All Star Team in 1981, ’82, and ’84. In 1982 and 1984. Mark was named the Ohio Tournament Bowlers Association champion. He also has been named GCBA King of Cleveland Bowlers in 1984. In both 1987 & 1989 Mark was crowned the Cleveland Tournament Bowlers Association. champion.

Mark was inducted in the Greater Cleveland Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 2004.

DAVID CALLERY

Callery of Marrero, La., is no stranger in the local, state and national bowling communities, starting with the Greater Cincinnati Bowler of the Year in 1977 and being inducted into the Greater Cincinnati Hall of Fame in 1990. He also was selected four times to the Greater Cincinnati first-team All City. His tournament experience has spanned over 30 years with USBC, 25 years at state, and 30 years at the local level. He has won first place in the ABC Team in 1982, contributing a 687 series to the team score of 3,268 and first place ABC Open doubles in 1993 rolling a 763 series with his partner adding a 735 series, for a total 1498. Callery and his teammates placed three times in the Ohio State USBC Open team event. First in 1974, setting a then record score of 3,409. The second time in 1978 with his Tri State Bowling team and the third time in 1988, again setting another new record score of 3440. He also placed first in the Dick Hoover Team Match Games in 1976, and in 1980 he shot a 300 game the final game of the tournament. He has averaged over 200 for more than 25 years. His highest average was in 1982 with a 218. He also has rolled 11 300 games with the first one in 1974. He has rolled three 800 series with 836 as his highest.

ROBERTA BOBBITT

Bobbitt has been coaching and promoting the Sport of Bowling for over 40 years. She has served at least 15 years on the Ohio State USBC Youth Committee and as District #5 Pepsi, and District #5 Handicap Singles tournament director, and she is always volunteering to work the Ohio State Pepsi and Ohio State Handicap Singles as well as the Ohio State USBC Youth Championship Tournament. She has won the Volunteer of the Year award in both the Washington Court House USBC and the Ohio State USBC. She has been the association secretary for many years. She has also been a youth league coach and coordinator for at least 40 years. She has also served as secretary-treasurer over the years for many leagues. She was extremely valuable in the in the process of merging the Washington Court House men, women and youth associations into one organization. She is involved within the community as she is the Food Bank director at her church and is incredibly involved in the congregation.

She also is a Washington Court House USBC Hall of Famer in the Meritorious Service category.
