Youth tourneys: JTBA holds tourneys in Akron, Dayton

The Junior Tournament Bowlers Association (JTBA) held a pair of tournaments over the past two weekends in Akron and Dayton, along with the Midwest USA Scholarship Touirnaments also host an event during the latter weekend.

The next JTBA event will be JTBA String Pin Machine Championship, set for 9 a.m. Sept. 14 at Skyline Lanes in Gallipolis. Entry fee is $80 preregistered or $90 the day of the event. For information, go to http://www.jtba.com/schedule-25-26.html

Here are the results of Akron and Dayton events:

JTBA AKRON

The JTBA held its 2025 Akron Youth Open on Aug. 24 at Spins Bowl Akron with 90 overall entries over five boys and girls divisions. The event also served as a Junior Gold qualifier.

Bowlers rolled five qualifying games before the respective divisions were cut to the top four to 16, depending on entries, for rounds of two-game match play.

Gahanna Lincoln High School’s Keel Clouse, the No. 7 seed, stopped No. 1 seed Quinn Dean 423-421 in the 18U boys title match, outscoring his opponent 221-213 in Game 2 to win in the two-game finals.

Columbus’ Lydia Gordon, the No. 7 seed, stopped Jackson High School senior Rylee Dunn 390-372 in the 18U girls title match after building a 39-pin lead after Game 1. Green’s Brooklyn Krager, the No. 2 seed, fell in the first round of match play to Gordon.

MUSA ELIMINATOR

The Midwest USA Scholarship event drew 69 bowlers Saturday to Beaver-Vu Bowl in Beavercreek with competition in five boys and girls divisions.

Bowlers rolled four qualifying games before the respective divisions were cut for elimination play, with the final two in each division bowling for the titles.

OTHER EVENTS

ADULT-YOUTH: The Ohio Bowling Alliance will be holding an adult-youth tournament the weekends of Oct. 4-5 and Oct. 11-12 at Madison Lanes in London. Entry fee is $60 per team with squads at 9 a.m. and noon each day. This is a handicap event, but there is an addition $10 charge for a scratch division. There is a limit of 24 teams per squad.
