There will be plenty of bowling for participants and fans going on this weekend in Stark County with three separate tournament events set for Saturday and Sunday, ranging from pro to amateur to team events.
Here is a rundown of the upcoming events:
PBA CENTRAL REGION: Park Centre Lanes in North Canton again will be sponsoring the PBA50-60 Park Centre Lanes Central Doubles Open on Oct. 18 and 19 at the center. In conjunction with the event, the Fred Smith- Dick Behra Pro-Am will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 17. This event is sold out, with players having the opportunity to bowl three games of 9-pin, no-tap with three different pros. This is a handicapped event. Admission is free.
The PBA50 regional tournament will open with an eight-game qualifying round at 10 a.m. Oct. 18 with 21 teams scheduled in the field.The field will then be cut to the top eight for the Oct. 19 round-robin match play starting at 9 a.m. There is no admission charge, with Michael Clark Jr. and Dean Billings returning as the defending champions.

COLLEGE BOWL TOURNAMENTS: The second event of the College Bowl Tournaments series — a 50-and-older and under-50 doubles — is set for 10 a.m. Oct. 18 at Eastbury Bowling Center with a $130 entry fee for the scratch event. Teams will bowl four qualifying games before the field is cut to the top four for single-game match-play elimination. The event will pay 1-in-3 on the house oil pattern. This is the second of eight events, with players having to bowl at least four events to qualifying for the season-ending CBT series singles event in May 2026. Walk-ins are accepted. For information. SCHSBC ALUMNI TOURNAMENT: There are two spots remaining to complete a 20-team field for the Stark County High School Bowling Conference’s annual Alumni Tournament at 9 a.m. Oct. 19 at Eastbury Bowling Center. This is a fund-raiser for the high school conference. The event is limited to adult bowlers only with a $200 entry fee per team. Teams will bowl 12 Baker System games before the field is cut for best three-of-five match play by seed. See the entry form below for details.

OTHER EVENTS
“JIMMY HICKS” MEMORIAL SENIOR DOUBLES: A handicap senior doubles tournament is set for 11 a. m. Dec. 12 at Park Centre Lanes in North Canton for bowlers ages 55 and older. Entry fee is $110 per team, with handicap being 80 percent of 220. Teams will bowl three games, with the top four teams advancing to single-game match-play bracket play by seed. First place will pay $500, based on 40 teams. WABASH LANES: The team of Adams and Griffith captured the Baker Doubles event at Wabash Lanes in New Philadelphia. Also in the top three were 2, Herron-Krawulski; 3, German-Smith and Davis-Gary. The next event will be a 9-pin no-tap tournament at 6 p.m. Nov. 28 with a $40 entry fee for the handicapped event.
LEGACY LANES: An adult-youth scotch doubles event is set for 1 p.m. Oct. 26 at Legacy Lanes in Coshocton with a $30 entry fee per team. This is a handicapped event. See information below:

HIT DEM POCKETS: The team of Dell Ray Jr. and Demetrious Johnson captured the HDP Sunday Doubles Sweeper on Sunday at North Woods Lanes.
SINGLES ELIMINATOR: Jody Boyd and James Dalton Hiles are teaming up for the $1,000 Singles Eliminator event, with the date being changed from the original one due to a conflict with an Ohio State football home game. The new date is 1 p.m. Oct. 25 at Sequoia Pro Bowl in Columbus. Entry fee is $80 on a house oil pattern, with as maximum field of 120. Bowlers will bowl either four or five games (to be announced) before the field is cut to the top 24 for eliminator rounds, with the top eight receiving a first-round bye. For information, go to:

BAKER TRIO: One spot remains for the Hiles Tournaments Castaway Baker Trio Classic, set for 10 a.m. Oct. 19 at Castaway Lanes in Erie. Entry fee is $300 per team with teams bowling 18 Baker System games across the center, with the top five following qualifying advancing to the stepladder finals. DOUBLE L TOURNAMENTS: The Santa’s Holiday Mixed Team Shootout is set for Dec. 6 and 7 at Roseland Lanes in Oakwood with a $200 entry fee per team and an optional singles pot. This is a handicapped event for four-person teams, with teach team having at least one player of the opposite sex. See entry information below:

ROLLHOUSE SWEEPERS: Dean Vargo captured the Wednesday Night Fall Sport Shot Sweeper at RollHouse Parma. The remainder of the top three included Oscar Krofcheck and Steve Hlabse. The next event will be bowled on the 2019 U.S. Open No. 3 oil pattern and is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 29 at RollHouse Parma with bowlers rolling four qualifying games before the top four or five advance to the stepladder finals. Entry fee is $40.
OHIO MATCHPLAY TOURNAMENTS: No. 5 seed Brent Watson defeated No. 2 seed Jay Hendershot 236-230 to captured the Ohio Matchplay Tournaments event Saturday at HP Lanes in Columbus with a 19-playeer field. Bob Jones was the qualifying leader with 1,121 for five games. See qualifying results below. PBA REGIONAL
CENTRAL REGION: Willowick right-hander Dean Vargo earned his second career PBA regional title by stopping Zac Tackett 224-207 in the title match of the one-day PBA JAX-60 Central Open at JAX60 in Jackson, Mich., on Saturday. A field of 62 bowlers rolled an eight-game qualifying round before the field was reduced to the top 12 for brackets match-play by seed. Urbana left-hander Graham Fach was the qualifying leader with 1,790, 19 pins ahead of Vargo. The top four received a first-round bye, with the first two rounds being two-game elimination match play.
