USBC: SIX WOMEN SET FOR PANAM GAMES RUN

ARLINGTON, Texas – Six female athletes are prepared to represent Team USA at the 2026 PANAM Bowling VI Pan American Women’s Adult Championships, which start Monday and rus through Oct. 3 at the Bowling Industry bowling center in Bogota, Colombia.

The women donning the red, white and blue in Bogota are Katelyn Abigania of San Diego; Julia Bond of Lincoln, Neb.; Breanna Clemmer of Pikeville, Ky.; Annalise OBryant of Ball Ground, Ga.; Elizabeth Teuber of Holly, Mich.; and Maggie Thoma of New Braunfels, Texas.

The squad has combined to win nearly 70 international medals – 40 of them gold – during their time representing Team USA and Junior Team USA.

The American contingent is scheduled to arrive on Saturday with the event’s official practice sessions taking place on Sunday and Monday.

Singles competition will officially get the tournament underway on Monday night and then wrap up on Tuesday. Doubles will begin later in the day on Tuesday and conclude the following day before Trios competition occupies the schedule on Oct. 1. Team play will bring the 2026 Pan American Women’s Adult Championship to a close on Oct. 2 before teams depart on Oct. 3.

While Bond and Clemmer have bowled internationally for Team USA on multiple occasions, the other four American women will be making their adult team debuts in Bogota.

Despite being just 30 years old, Bond is the elder stateswoman of the group, and she hopes to lead the American charge to the podium.

“I hope everyone in the group has a moment where they feel like they’re on top of the world,” Bond said. “Everyone’s put in their all to get to this point, so, regardless of outcome, I would love to see every single one of us have a moment where we’re bowling free and having fun.

“My goals and expectations are very similar. I would like us to go out there and make calm and educated decisions, learn from any mistakes, minimize errors and put out a dominant performance.”

Clemmer is equally focused on helping Team USA put its best foot forward on the lanes; nevertheless, she has a few goals that go beyond just strikes and spares.

“My goals are not only to win gold, but also to be able to get to know my teammates on a different level,” Clemmer said. “A lot of the women haven’t competed for adult Team USA before, so I’m excited to be a part of their first time putting on their shoes as adult team members.”

Abigania has enjoyed a highly decorated Junior Team USA career, collecting five gold medals in international competition during her four-year stint on the team; nevertheless, she is anxious to represent the adult team for the first time.

“I am so excited and humbled to be selected to compete for my first adult Team USA event,” Abigania said. “This is a dream come true, and I have been working really hard for this.

“I want to represent the red, white and blue in the best way I can. That includes competing well and winning medals but also celebrating the sport of bowling and having that camaraderie with my teammates and other countries.”

OBryant was just as thrilled to have been selected to compete in Colombia.

“Getting the call that I was selected for my first adult Team USA event was amazing and a dream come true,” OBryant said. “I was extremely excited as it’s a huge honor and blessing to represent our country surrounded by some of the best in the world.”

Teuber, on the other hand, was just looking forward to a change in scenery.

“Off the lanes, I am most looking forward to the fall weather because, apparently, that’s not a thing in the United States,” Teuber said.

But while she was willing to offer up a joke in the days leading up to competition, once the lights come on at the Bowling Industry bowling center, Teuber will be all business.

“I hope to be extremely competitive,” Teuber said. “The goal is to advance in each event and give myself and the other girls the best chance at bringing back some medals.”

Despite having been on the Junior Team USA roster in 2023, Thoma has yet to represent her country during international competition. As such, although she will be eyeing the podium just as intently as her teammates, her primary focus in Bogota will be on making the most of her red, white and blue debut.

“I’m looking forward to traveling with all of the girls and experience bowling on an international level for the first time,” Thoma said. “This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to have.”

PBA: ELITE REGIONALS FEATURE PLAYER OF YEAR NOMINEES

Star-studded fields will pack this weekend’s PBA ELITE Regional Tour events at the Southwest and West Regionals. The Southwest Region standard division roster is filled with familiar names, including four 2026 PBA Player of the Year and two Rookie of the Year nominees. They will all battle it out at FireLake Bowling Center in Shawnee, Okla.

The standard division features Brandon Bonta, Boog Krol, Spencer Robarge and Zach Wilkins, who were on the Player of the Year ballot. Bonta and Robarge also were on the Rookie of the Year ballot. Adding to the strength of this group are Francois Lavoie, Shawn Maldonado, Packy Hanrahan, AJ Chapman, Deo Benard, Eric Jones and Keven Williams.

Maldonado and TJ Rock have won the past two FireLake Invitationals. Benard already has 16 regional titles at just 22 years old, and he is the reigning champion of the Regional Players Invitational. The senior division roster includes Rick Benard, Tony Franklin, Robert Lawrence, Jon DeLaney, Dino Castillo and Chris Warren, who is tied for first with the most regional titles at 47. Warren is second all-time in regional titles with 60 behind Walter Ray Williams Jr.

The early trend of father-son duos continues with the Benards, DeLaney’s son, Chris, and Warren’s 21-year-old son Chris Warren II in the standard division. The young guys to keep an eye on are Ernesto Reynoso, 20-year-old Trae Henrichsmeyer, Josh Hammons, Connor Fleming, Braden Mallasch, Kaeden White and Jackson Wigington. Several of them have been on Junior Team USA and bowl for Wichita State University. You will likely see a lot of black and yellow jerseys from current and former Shocker players.

There are two squads with qualifying starting at 9:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday. After seven games, there will be a cut to the top third of the field in standard and senior division. Those bowlers will return to the lanes at 9:30 a.m. Sunday for four games in the advancers round. From there, the top eight in each division bowl round-robin match play, scheduled to begin at 1:15 p.m. ET.

Overall, the bowler with the highest pinfall total will win their division. There is no stepladder final. The pattern for this tournament is 48 feet.

West

The West Region roster is highlighted by 17-time PBA Tour champion and 2026 Player of the Year nominee Anthony Simonsen, Darren Tang, who is the first player to ever win a PBA title one-handed and two-handed, along with Jake Peters. PJ Haggerty will be seeking his 22nd career regional title. Last weekend’s Northwest Regional standard division champion, Dallas Leong will try to win back-to-back but watch out for Nickolaus Freiberg. He led the majority of that tournament until Leong rolled past him in the last game. Freiberg is just 23 years old, and he has won two regional titles in the last 11 months. A few other rising stars are 23-year-old Hunter Mayes, 24-year-old Michael Loera, 22-year-old lefty and international player Ben Robinson.

As for the senior division, the powerful Robert Smith will have the pins flying inside Buena Lanes in Ventura, Calif. He has won 10 regional titles and seven PBA National titles, including the 2000 U.S. Open. Michael Haugen Jr. has won nearly 30 regional titles between the two tours. Rich Corwin is leading the points list in the PBA50 West Region and David Leverage has won six senior regional titles, in addition to being named the West Region’s senior Player of the Year three times in the last four years.

There are two squads with seven games of qualifying starting at 11 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. ET before cutting to the top third in the field. Those bowlers will return at 11 a.m. ET on Sunday for four games in the advancers round. The top 8 in the standard and senior division will bowl round-robin match play to determine a winner for each division beginning at 2:30 p.m. ET. The oil pattern for the first West Regional is 43 feet.

The top 5 non-PBA Tour priority finishers in every PBA ELITE Regional Tour event earn an automatic berth into the PBA RPI held in December. At that prestigious tournament, three priority status positions on the 2027 PBA Tour will be rewarded.

All rounds of qualifying for every PBA ELITE Regional Tour will be livestreamed on BowlTV or Bowling TV, a free, ad-supported channel.
