MIAMI, Fla. — Lucky Strike Entertainment, owners of the Professional Bowlers Association, has announced what it terms as an “array of innovative formats” to be included in the PBA’s 2027 broadcast schedule.
Although nothing has been revealed as far as the formats — and limited announcements as to sites for the events — Lucky Strike did reveal that The CW and CBS Sports Network again will return as the primary broadcast outlets for the events which will run from Feb. 21 through the PBA World Championship finals June 19.
In addition, the ESPN app along with CBS, Paramount+ and BowlTV will also be included in the broadcast schedule, according to PBA’s news release.
No details have been provided on the future of the PBA ELITE regional tour, which has included three stops in each region from September into November, or the PBA Senior Tour.
The PBA’s Opening Weekend, set for Feb. 21, will be in Los Angeles while a new PBA All-Star Game will be May 2 in New York City.
In addition, there are four PBA Signature Series events on the schedule, but in what form those will take also has not been revealed.
“I am excited about PBA’s year-over-year audience growth and the reimagined PBA Tour for 2027, including a completely new presentation and the best bowlers on the planet competing in an array of innovative formats that represent a new era for the sport,” said Peter Murray, who was hired earlier this year as the new PBA chief executive officer, in a news release.
“The 2027 PBA Tour will be a season with a clear beginning, middle, and end, where every event matters and every week builds toward something bigger. Championship Sundays provide appointment viewing, our majors create milestones throughout the season, and the introduction of the PBA Playoffs gives fans a true postseason before the sport’s biggest stage, the PBA World Championship.”
The PBA’s major events — USBC Masters, GoBowling U.S. Open, Players Championship, Tournament of Championship and World Championship — have been spaced out on the new schedule with the former two in March, the Players Championship in April, the TOC set for May and the World Championship in June to conclude the U.S. version of the schedule, which encompasses 23 dates.
Also added is a new version of the PBA Playoffs, which will run from June 10 through 19. It reportedly will feature a 33-player bracket, but a format was not revealed.
It is assumed that the TOC will return to Fairlawn in 2027, but sites for all but four events have not been announced. USBC has previously announced that the 2027 U.S. Open is at Royal Pin Woodland in Indianapolis, and the 2027 USBC Masters is at the Suncoast in Las Vegas.
