USBC report: Area players place at Ohio Seniors

COLUMBUS — Several area players placed in their respective divisions during the Ohio Open and Women’s Senior Championships, which concluded play recent at the Columbus Bowling Palace.

There were six divisions in each tourney, which were established according to age in the handicapped event. Winners in each category were offered a paid entry into the USBC National Senior Tournament.

The events drew over 1,000 participants.

In the women’s division, Akron’s Sandy Smith (1,409 total pinfall) captured the Division S division, with Stow’s Kris Kumkel (1,425) and Medina’s Nikki Stiteler (1,419) taking divisions D and E, respectively.

Division S (75 and older): 8. Nancy Wilson (Rootstown) 1,374.

Other state tourneys

The Ohio State USBC women’s and open championships are beind held in Columbus and Toledo, respectively, in 2022.

The entry deadline for the women’s event is Jan. 18. with the team event set for HP Lanes and doubles and singles set for the Columbus Square Bowling Palace.

Entry fee is $28 per person per event, with a $2 per person all-event fee and $5 scratch fee in addition to entry fee.

Entry deadline for the open event also is Jan 18, with the team event set for Interstate Lanes in Rossford and doubles and singles set for Southwyck Lanes.
