
McKINLEY, GREEN TOP JAGUAR FIELD

The McKinley High School boys and Green girls won their respective divisions during Saturday’s Jaguar Baker Marathon at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl in Columbus.
McKinley, second seeded in the 24-team boys field with 3,564 total pinfall during the 16-game Baker System qualifying round, defeated No. 7 seed Mentor (2-0) and No. 3 seed Kettering Fairmont (2-1) in best of three-matches during the eight-team match-play round to set up a title match against top-seeded Centerville. McKinley won the third game against Fairmont 278-204 to advance.
The Bulldogs (167-186-209) then topped Centerville (214-173-199) 2-1 by winning the final two games to claim the title. Centerville gained the top seed by finishing 28 pins ahead of McKinley.
Among other area teams, Wadsworth finished 15th with 3,089 and missed the cut.
In the 22-team girls division, Green entered the eight-team match-play round as the No. 2 seed, falling just three pins behind top-seeded Jonathon Alder (3,015-3,012).
The Bulldogs (192-260) then swept past No. 7 seed Huber Heights Wayne (169-212) 2-0 before stopping No. 3 seed Mentor 2-0 in the semifinals. Green shot 184-165 to Mentor’s 178-147.
Green then swept Jonathan Alder 184-146 and 233-197 to claim the title, its fourth tournament win of the season.
Among other area teams, McKinley finished 10th with 2,318, and Wadsworth was 18th with 2,021.

PERRY GIRLS CLAIM HEATH TITLE
The Perry girls, top-seeded following the 15-team qualifying round, stopped Sunbury Big Walnut in the title match to claim the title during Saturday’s Muskingum University High School Invitational at Park Lanes in Heath.
The Panthers, who also led after the three-game individual game round, finished with 3,269 total pinfall following the six-game Baker System round, 64 pins ahead of Big Walnut.
In the title match, Perry (167-157-166) topped Big Walnut (150-170-148) 2-1 in the best-of-three match.
Perry’s Ami King and Kiele Poling both made the all-tournament team with 518 and 524 series, respectively. Hannah Miller added a 457, and Alexis Carper shot 438.
Four teams advanced to the championship round, with Perry (203-136-190) first defeating Newark (138-159-172) 2-1 in its opening match.
Perry’s boys finished sixth overall, missing the cut to match play by 66 pins with 3,511 total pinfall. Pickerington North was the qualifying leader with 3,867.
Perry’s Evan Nave made the all-tournament team, finishing fifth with a 587 series. No other Panther bowled more than two games.
