
MEDINA — Triway High School’s girls dominated the 13-team field while the Titans boys team also advanced during Sunday’s Division II sectional at AMF Medina Lanes.
The Triway girls, with all five players placing among the top 11 individuals, finished with a total pinfall of 3,816, 746 pins ahead of second-place Open Door Christian (3,070).
The Titans’ final count would have placed them third overall in the boys division.
The top three teams and top three individuals in both divisions advanced to the Northeast District tournament, set for 10 a.m. Feb. 25 (boys) and 26 (girls) at Holiday Bowl in Struthers.
Joining Triway and Open Door will be Brookside, which finished wth 3,059, 61 pins ahead of fourth-place Firelands. Coventry finished seventh with 2,823.
Sophomore Emma Yoder took the individual title with a 682 series and sophomore tammate Addy Meshew finished second with 646.
Other Titans scores included junior Danielle Densmore 524, junior LIndsay Miller 504 and freshman Kennedy Finley 489.
In the boys division, Lutheran West captured he sectional title with 3,955, 131 pins ahead of second-place Triway (3,824). Clearview earned the third district spot with 3,736, 47 pins ahead of Firelands.
Lutheran West’s JT Maslanich took the individual title with a 675 series.
Triway was led by sophomore Owen Fiesler’s 603, followed by juniors Brandon Rich and Chad Harper, each shooting 551.
Individual boys qualifiers included Wellington’s Brandon Rukowski 652, Brookside’s Michael Bilczo 635 and Firesland’ Connor Cordy 583.
Firelands’ Mandy Dewitt was the top individual qualifier with 539, followed by Wellington’s Whitney Kirchner 522 and Fireslands’ Lesi Leskovska 505.
