EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Graham Fach rallied during the position round to capture the Bowlero-Evansville Central-Midwest Open on Sunday at AMF Arc Lanes.
The 30-year-old left-hander and Canada native, now bowling out of Urbana, claimed his eighth career regional title to go along with two PBA Tour titles.
Heading into the final position round match against Tom Hess, Fach was second in the standings, trailing by 50 pins. But Fach topped Hess 234-193 in the final match and, with his 30 bonus pins for the victory, was able to secure a 21-pin victory.
Fach earned $2,300 for the win in the 72-player field after finishing unbeaten during the match-play round at 8-0 for 3,796 total pinfall after averaging 222.25 over 16 games. Fach stood sixth following the eight-game qualifying round with 1,712.
Both Hess, a 62-year-old Granger, Iowa, right-hander, and Parma’s Patrick Dombrowski, a 43-year-old right-hander, finished 6-2 during match play. Hess was second with 3,775; Dombrowski finished third with 3,567 after stopping Jonathan Schawlow 213-165 during the position round.
Northfield two-handed lefty Ryan Liederbach finished fifth overall with 3,503 after averaging 211.44. He won $850.
Schalow, from Evansville, Wis., was the qualifying leader with 1,805, an average of 225.63. I took an average of 205 to make the cut to the top 16 for match play.

UPCOMING EVENTS
The PBA Bowlero-Findlay Central Open, a one-day event for members only, is set for 8 a. . Saturday at AMF Sportsman Lanes in Findlay.
Following an eight-game qualifying round, the top 12 will advance to round-robin match plat beginning at 2 p.m.
• The Mahoning County Convention and Visitors Bureau-Boardman Printing Central Open is set for May 6 through 8 at Amron Lanes in Canfield.
There will be two eight-game qualifying squads at 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., with the top 16 advancing to Sunday’s 12-game round-robin match play. Admission is free.
Fach, Liederbach and Doylestown’s Joe Bailey are among the players in the field.
• A PBA-PBA50 regional qualifier will be held at 10 a.m. May 7 at Rebman Recreation in Lorain.
Bowlers will roll five qualifying games, with one in every five bowlers in both the regular and senior (ages 50 and older division) receiving a free entry into the PBA Ohio Lottery-Bowler X Baldo Campana Memorial Central Open, set for May 20 through 22 at Rebman.
Entry fee is $80 pre-pay, $90 after April 30.
