Bowling briefs: Mega event set in Columbus

COLUMBUS — The $12,000 Nance Construction HP Lanes Mega Tournament is set for June 4 and 5 at HP Lanes.

Entry fee is $300, with bowlers rolling eight qualifying games on either a 9 a.m. or 4 p.m. squad June 4. The field is then cut to the top 1-in-5 for the cashers round June 5.

Bowlers in the cashers round bowl six more games at 10 a.m. June 5 before the field is cut to the top 10 based on 14-game totals to participate in a modified stepladder finals.

First place is worth $12,000 based on 240 entries with about 25 spots remaining with a $155 deposit required.

Optional events also will be held at 7 p.m. June 2 (doubles) and June 3 (team event). Entry fee for doubles is $200 and $400 for the team event.

The doubles and team events will be bowled on a house oil pattern; the main event will be bowled on a pattern to be announced.

COLLEGE BOWL FINALE SET

JACKSON TWP. — The College Bowl Tournaments season finale is set for 10 a.m. May 14 at Park Centre Lanes.

This singles event is open only to players who have participated in at least four College Bowl events this season. Entry fee is $60, with added money to the prize fund from entries during the season.

FURBAY ELECTRIC OPEN SET MAY 1

PERRY TWP. — The 20th annual Furbay Electric Open is set for 9 a.m. May 1 at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes.

The tournament currently has a 124-player field and will take to 138 entries. Entry fee is $75, with first place paying $1,000.

Bowlers will roll five qualifying games before the field is cut to the top 20 for two-game match play rounds culiminating with a single-game stepladder finals for five players.

Sponsors include Furbay Electric, Track Bowling, AMF Hall of Fame Lanes, Poling Painting, Ztech Automotive, Heighway Awards, Wagrich Construction, Sled Dog, Premiere Bowlers Mart and Waikem Auto Group.

SWEEPER SET APRIL 24

AKRON — The next Mac’s Cabana Scratch Doubles sweeper is set for 4 p.m. April 24 at Spins Bowl Akron.

Entry fee is $100 per team for the scratch event, with bowlers rolling four qualifying games over four sets of lanes before the field is cut to the top four for stepladder finals.

This event has an earlier starting time, and there will be a Storm bowling ball raffle
