COLUMBUS — No. 3 seed Breanna Hartzler of Smithville stopped top-seeded and PWBA champion Jillian Martin 430-306 to capture the JTBA -Campbellsville University Youth Open on Sunday at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.
Martin was the No. 1 seed in the girls 18U division with 1,041 total pinfall. Hartzler finished with 1,014 after a 146 during her final game of qualifying to Martin’s 260.
Wooster’s Abbie Leiendecker, tied for the No. 5 seed after the five-game qualifying round, fell in the quarterfinals to No. 4 Nicole Lamponen 417-341.
In the boys U15B division, Massillon’s Cameron Kilgore was the No. 1 seed following qualifying with 1,012 total pinfall. But he fell to No. 8 seed Elliott Gordon of Columbus 388-343 in the quarterfinals.
Lake High School freshman Zac Abbott also reached the round of 16, but fell in his opening match to Parma Padua’s Brenden Tahsler 403-311.
Gordon and Tahsler met for the title, with Gordon winning 424-360.
In other divisions:
• Lutheran West’s Josh Masianich, the No. 5 seed, topped No. 14 seed Bryce Beltzer of Logan Elm 346-326 for the U18 win.
• Elgin’s Bethan Strong, the No. 4 seed, topped No. 2 seed Carlee Hohenbrink 456-365 in the girls 15U division.
• No. 2 seed Miles Gordon topped No. 1 seed Drew Parker 369-318 in the boys 12U division.
• No. 3 seed Elena Meeker topped No. 4 seed Ryann Eckhardt 306-259 in the girls 12U division.
The next JTBA event is the Cincinnati Youth Classic on May 15 in Cincinnati.
