H.S. briefs: Triway girls stay alive in singles

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — All six members of Triway High School’s girls bowling team made the first cut in singles during the 2022 U.S. High School Bowling National Championships at Executive Strike & Spare .

The six will join 124 other female bowlers during Survivor Round 1 of the singles event, which begins at 9 a.m. Monday. After on more game, the top 60 girls will advance to the next survivor round at 10:30 based on five-game total pinfalls.

The current pinfalls and places of the Titans following the opening four-game qualifying round in a field of 258 players: Emma Yoder, 34th, 775; Kennedy Finley, 64th, 739; Danielle Densmore, 78th, 721; Addy Meshew, 95th, 697; Sydney Wile, 96th, 695; and Lindsay Miller, 102nd, 689.

STORM YOUTH CHAMPIONSHIPS

COLUMBUS — Wooster High School’s Abbie Leiendecker finished with 4,013 total pinfall to finish seventh overall during the Storm Youth Championships Super Slam at Columbus Square Bowling Palace on Sunday.

The event was contested on four different oil patterns. Leiendecker competed in the 18U girls division, and bowled 20 games over two days.

Arianna Araujo topped the field with 4,219. There was competition in three divisions for boys and girls, with the 18U girls division drawing 39 entries.

Tuslaw’s Cameron Kilgore finished 53rd in the boys 18U division with 3,747, and Ashland’s Landon Dreibelbis was 12th in the boys 15U division with 4,145.
