H.S. bowling: Yoder finishes 20th at nationals

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Triway High School sophomore Emma Yoder made it to the fourth round of survivor on-game eliminations before finishing 20th overall in singles during the U.S. High School Bowling National Championship at Executive Strike & Spare on Sunday.

Yoder finished with 1,394 pins through seven games, including 775 during the four-game opening qualifier at the event.

The Titans, as a team, finished eighth overall. Jayden Hauck of Hammond (Fla.) High School won the title with a 249-222 win over Kara Beissel of Seabreeze (La.) High School.

Bowlers rolled four qualifying games before the field was cut to 130, followed by a series of one-game eliminations cutting the field to 60, 30, 16, 8 and the final four..

Other final singles placements for Triway girls in the 258-player field included Addy Meshew, 76th, 902 (five games); Danielle Densmore, 92nd, 877 (five); Kennedy Finley, 96th, 871 (five); Sydney Wile, 107th, 857 (five); and Lindsay Miller, 114th, 846 (five). All five made the first cut. 

Kian Pryor of North Bend (Ore.) defeated Brenda Salo of Centerville 247-225 to win the boys singles title.

Ashland’s Aiden Brown was the top area finisher in the boys division, taking 30th in the 356-player field with 1,476 through seven games. Other Arrows finishers included Parker Grissinger, 125th, 967 (five games); Zip Caudill, 136th, 960 (five); Matthias Wood, 142nd, 949 (five); Blake Stout, 149th, 941 (five); Brayden Long, 165th, 925 (five); and Darren Ward, 190th, 733 (four).
