LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Medina’s Nikki Stiteler shot a 742 series over her final three qualifying games to soar to the Women’s 50-54 lead during the 2022 USBC Senior Championships on Thursday.
Stiteler, who had a high game of 256, finished with 1,426 total pinfall for her six qualifying games, holding a 29-pin lead over Cami Jefferies of Idaho. She jumped from 15th to first over the final three games.
The top six finishers in each of the women’s and open divisions advanced to Friday’s advancers’ round, which includes three more games. The overall champions in each division will be crowned following the advancers’ round at Executive Strike and Spare.
Ohio’s Kris Kunkle also leads the 55-59 age division with 1,368, 44 pins ahead of Massachusetts’ Joann Guglieimo.
Competition is being held in six women’s divisions and six open divisions, with scores including handicap. No Ohioans made the cut in the Open division.
The advancers’ round finals are set for 9 a.m. Friday.

PBA: COOLEY EARNS REGIONAL TITLE
MINSTER — Australian Sam Cooley earned his fourth career regional title, stopping Urbana’s Graham Fach in the title match of the PBA Kremer Roofing Central Classic on Thursday at Community Lanes.
Cooley earned the No. 1 seed for the stepladder finals by finishing the second advancer round with 3,459 total pinfall, one pin ahead of Fach.
In the opening stepladder match, Parma right-hander Patrick Dombrowski, who claimed a regional title last weekend, fell to Huntington, Ind. right-hander Zac Tackett 235-210.
Tackett then stopped qualifying leader Shawn Maldonado of Sugarland, Texas, 235-232 to reach the semifinals against Fach.
Fach earned the right to face Cooley by stopping Tackett’s run 224-203.
Maldonado topped qualifying with 1,754 through eight games, 14 pins ahead of Fach, with Cooley sitting ninth.
Cooley was 11th after the first advancer round as Fach moved into the lead with 2,593. But Cooley shot 991 over his final four games to earn the No. 1 seed for the stepladder finals after 16 games.
Among area players, Chillicothe’s Brandon Novak finished 34th with 1,537 during qualifying; and Cleveland’s Dan Marriott was 45th with 1,452.
A PBA Central Super Regional will be held Saturday and Sunday at Pla-Mor Lanes in Coldwater with first place paying $10,000.
