USBC: Stiteler finishes second in Senior Championships

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Medina’s Nikki Stiteler rolled the high actual series of her age division,, but fell short in the handicap competition, finishing second during the USBC Senior Championships on Friday at Executive Strike and Spare.

Stiteler rolled a 586 series, but had only 39 handicap and 50 bonus pins to finish with 675 total. Illinois’ Dawn Trodler took honors with 727, including 532 actual and 165 handicap with 30 bonus pins.

Only six women reached the advancer round in each age division.

Ohio’s Kris Kunkel topped the women’s 55-59 division with a 742 series, just four pins ahead of Mary Berkenstock of British Columbia, Canada. Kunkel finished with a 449 series, but added 243 handicap and 50 bonus pins. Berkenstock had a 607 actual series, but just 111 handicap.

Champons were crowned in six women’s divisions and six open divisions during the three-day event for bowlers age 50 and older.
