JTBA: LEIENDECKER WINS SECOND IN A ROW
GALLIPOLIS — Wooster’s Abbie Leiendecker captured her second girls U18 title in a row during Sunday’s Ohio Valley Bank Youth Open at Skyline Bowling Center.
The No. 2-seeded Leiendecker, who captured last week’s event in Beavercreek, defeated top seeded Melanie Straub 451-346 to claim the $700 scholarship in the 14-player field.
Lake High School sophomore Zachary Abbott topped the 19-player boys 15U division with a 397-290 win over Quinn Dean in the finale. Abbott, the No. 2 seed in the division, also claimed a $700 scholarship.
The tournament drew 73 entries over five divisions.
Other champions included No. 8 seed Hayden Tarris in boys 18U; top-seeded Lily Strouse in girls 15U; and No. 3 seed Aaron Cabinets in boys 12U.
The next event is the JTBA UPike Adult-Junior Doubles set for Oct. 16 at Roseland Lanes in Oakwood.

AREA TEAM TOPS BAKER EVENT
COSHOCTON — The area five-bowler team of Frank Testa, Brent Watson, Joe Hostetler, Rocio Restrep and Vinny Bellar captured top honors during the five-man Baker Scratch Sweeper on Sunday at Legacy Lanes and Lounge.
Twelve teams bowled 20 Baker System games across 20 lanes, with the top five moving on to the stepladder finals. The local team was the No. 1 seed for the finals.

- 2, Ethan McDonald, Brody Wildenmann, Evan Thro, Alberto Dunlap, Kenny Haslip;
- 3, Auston Rinehart, Alex Linnenbrink, AJ Randoff, Ean Freezene, and Michael Roshell.

PBA CENTRAL REGION: WEIDMAN WINS EVENT
FISHERS, Ind. — Zach Weidman, a 28-year-old Indianapolis right-hander stopped 23-year-old West Lafayette, Ind., right-hander Jeffery Mann to capture the PBA Boss Snow Plows-O’Brien Auto-Radical Central Open on Sunday at Pinheads.
Weidman, who won his second career regional title, was the qualifying leader with 1,930 total pinfall. He stopped Michael Tang 771-691 in his opening match of single elimination, with a 299 in Game 3. Then topped Westerville’s Zeke Bayt 523-432 in the two-game semifinal before his win over Mann.
Weidman earned $2,500 for the victory in the 56-player field. Michael Schlabach of Goshen, Ind., was the cut number for the top 12 with 1,783 for eight games. Urbana left-hander Graham Fach, the region’s points leader, finished ninth.
Regular PBA Central Region players will be at Wabash Lanes in New Philadelphia on Sept. 16 through 18 for the PBA Wabash Lanes Member-Nonmember Doubles Central Open, presented by MPS Manufacturing.
