H.S. bowling: Conotton Valley rolls in Division II sectional

Conotton Valley’s girls topped the field during the East District Division II sectional Tuesday at St. Clair Lanes in St. Clairsville.

ST. CLAIRSVILLE — Conotton Valley shot the only 900 game of the day, established a 182-pin lead after the opening three regular games and cruised to the title during the OHSAA East District Division II Sectional high school bowling tournament Tuesday at St. Clair Lanes.

The Rockets finished with 3,697 total pinfall, finishing 297 pins ahead of second-place Minerva (3,400) to lead six teams into the Feb. 23 district tournament at Legacy Lanes in Coshocton.

Also advancing are Sandy Valley (3,313), Carrollton (3,262), East Liverpool (3,213)  and Maysville (3,212), which finished 231 pins ahead of sixth-place Union Local (2,981) in the 23-team field.

In the East District format, the sectional was divided into two squads with overall scores not being announced until the completion of the second squad. The sectional format was three regular games and six Baker System games.

The Rockets also turned in the top Baker block with 1,063, including a tourney high game of 256.

East Liverpool sophomore Addison Rudibaugh was the high individual with 616, followed by Conotton Valley junior Mackenzie Willoughby with 610. They were the lone girls to break 600.

The Rockets placed all five starters in the top 11 individuals, with senior Chloe Blick shooting 520, freshman Delilah Williams 509, señor Daphne Stuber 501 and sophomore Mylie Galigher 494.

Individuals advancing included Union Local senior Chloe Porter (495), Philo freshman Cassidy Himes (487), Monroe Central junior Shyann Baker and River. View junior Joni Winland (479), West Holmes junior Hailee North (473) and Harrison Central sophomore Tylynn Smith (472).

Minerva was led by sophomore Kayla Henxerhan’s 553 and 506 for junior Shelby Worrell.

Senior Joey Boyer (550) led the Cardinals along with senior Raven Cordia (494), and senior Joline Greaves (487) led the Warriors along with junior Zoey Elliott (479).

The boys enter Division II sectional play Wednesday at Boulevard Lanes in Dover, with shifts at 8 a.m. and 1 p.m.
