Bowling Briefs: Stark USBC women’s team event, HDP Eliminator results

STARK USBC: Two share Stark USBC Women’s team title

CANTON — Joker & Aces and Split Personalities shared the handicap team title during the 90th annual Stark County USBC Women’s Handicap Tournament, which concluded play Sunday at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes.

Both teams finished with 3,250 total pinfall, finishing just 14 pins ahead of Louisville’s Foxy Ladies in the 19-team field.

Canton’s Joker & Aces, which turned in the high handicap team game of 1,147, was led by Theresa Kerrigan, who shot 670 for the third-high individual scratch series. Other team members included Carol PittsonSheri Pruchnicki, Chrissy Brady and Jackie Shahan.

Louisville’s Split Personalities, which had the high actual team series of 2,938, were led by Kim Derby’s 663, 691 (second high overall) from Rachel Meighen and Allison Maurer’s 625. Other team members ere Jennifer Driver and Sharon Keim.

Mandi Testa of Ten Back Pro Shop had the high individual scratch series of 779, while Meighen recorded the high game of 290. Massillon’s Ten Back Pro Shop also had the high scratch game of 1,031.

Doubles and singles begins at 6:30 p.m. April 21, with another shift at 1 p.m. April 22.

HIGH INDIVIDUAL SERIES: Mandi Testa 264-779, Rachel Meighen 290-691, Theresa Kerrigan 255-670, Kim Zerbey 234-663, Dana Gates 233-643, Breanna Mowls 246-625, Renae Burns 612 and 622, Allison Maurer 625 and 618.

HIT DEM POCKETS: Wade, Price top Eliminator field

MACEDONIA — The team of Terry Wade and Stephanie Price topped the field during Sunday’s Hit Dem Pockets Eliminator Doubles event at North Woods Lanes.

Wade and Price, the 10th seed following the four-game qualifier, advanced to the title match after shooting 498 (20 pins handicap) in the final four.

The pair then topped Viktor Varner and Ryan Liederbach 462-448 to claim the win. Wade had 238 to Price’s 204 in the final match.

Tim Jones Jr. and Ian Morrison were the qualifying leaders with 2,098 during the four opening games, followed by Vinny Bellar and Eric Bator (2,017). Bellar shot 812 over his first three games.

The event drew 29 teams, with the cut to the top 16 for single-game elimination being at 1,818.

Other cuts for single-game rounds were at 458 to the round of eight and 388 to the round of four. Jesse and Andrew Smith finished third with 441, followed by Bellar and Bator (388).
