COLUMBUS — The team of Alec Keplinger, Cam Crowe, Mike Jachcinski and Carter Street put up 4,008 total pinfall over four games to claim the title during the team event of the $10,000 Shovel City Motorsports HP Lanes MEGA event Friday.
The team of three lefties (Crowe, Jachcinski and Keplinger) and one righty (Street) put up three 100 games — the only team to do it — and finished with 1,016. It was the lone team to hit 1,000 in Game 4 during a night where only seven 1,000 games were shot.
Street was the lone Ohioan in the group.
Taking second was Fero Williams, who captured the doubles title Thursday, along with Joe Lipan, Devin Littlejohn and CJ Petrin with 3906 — 102 pins behind the champions. Sean Martin II Nolan White, JT Cherpeski and Dell Ray Jr. finish third with 3,890 as six teams cashed in the event which included 32 teams.
The final cash spot when to Graham Fach, Matt Sanders, Zach Wilkins and Brett Shepherd with 3,690. Three of the four players were part of the 2022 doubles champions. Wilkins, who teamed with Williams to win the doubles Thursday, replaced Mike Wolfe this season.
They finished 15 pins ahead of Quentin Collins, Alex Vargas, Marcus Bell and Michael Martell for the spot.
The team of Quintan Kocher, Brandon Mooney, Eli Cox and Simon Mote recorded the high game with 1,029 in Game 1 on the house oil pattern.
The main event, the MEGA singles, opens Saturday with two eight-game qualifying rounds Saturday at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The field is then cut to the top 1-in-5 for Sunday’s Cashers Round of six games before the field again is cut to the top eight for a modified stepladder finals.
