TOURNAMENT: Testa tops field at Legacy Lanes
COSHOCTON — Massillon’s Frank Testa, following a string of top-three finishes, emerged with the win during Sunday’s Sport Shot Sweeper at Legacy Lanes.

A field of 44 bowlers competed on the Statue of Liberty oil patter, with Testa being the No. 1 seed after a four-game qualifier.

“After the last few months of losing match after match the thoughts of letting another one slip through my hands were there until my last practice shot,” Testa said of his Facebook page. “At that point I finally did what my coach Ron Bell would preach during every practice session. I tuned out all of the voices/feelings of doubt and focused on beating the lane and never paid attention to what my opponent was doing. As the 10th frame ended I looked up and realized that I had broke the streak and got the win.”

Testa was followed in the standings by Chris Emig, Corey Wagner, Kelsey Wilson and Ken Stocker.

The next event at Legacy will be a five-player team Baker System Scratch Sweeper, set for Aug. 20. Teams will bowl 20 Baker games with the top five teams moving on to the stepladder finals.

Entry fee is $250 per team with 1-in-5 cashing. See details and entry information here: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100039266895905
