TOURNAMENT: Ohio State USBC sets new adult-youth event
The Ohio State USBC and Bowling Centers Association of America have joined forces to hold the first adult/youth doubles tournament Oct 7 and 8 and Oct 14 and 15 at LeElla Lanes in Washington Court House.
Squads will be 9 a.m and 1 pm each day, with two divisions: adult/youth (youth bowler is 12-and-under) and adult/teen (youth bowler is 13 and older). This is a handicapped event with an optional scratch division.
One-in-six youth bowlers will receive a scholarship via S.M.A.R.T. The winning team in each division will receive an award. Optional singles brackets and jackpots will be available for both youth and adult separately.

Other Ohio State USBC events coming up include:
- The 2024 Ohio State Women’s Championships locations and times have been finalized. The 2024 tournament will take place in the Toledo-Fostoria area, with the team event at Bowlero Lanes Fun Center in Fostoria and doubles and singles at the Toledo Sports Center in Toledo. The tournament will begin March 16-17 and run for six weekends, ending April 27-28. No bowling will be held March 30-31.
- The 2023 Ohio State USBC Open Seniors Championships is being held at HP Lanes in Columbus. The tournament starts Oct. 14 and runs for six weekends, ending Nov. 19, and it runs concurrently with the women’s event. This annual individual tournament is open to all Ohio State USBC members, regardless of gender and has six individual age divisions; (S) 75 and over; (A) 70 to 74; (B) 65-69; (C) 60-64; (D) 55-59 and (E) 50-54. Entrants only compete with those who are in the same age category. This is a handicap singles tournament consisting of six games. Winners in each category are offered a paid entry into the USBC National Seniors Tournament. Entry fee is $40.
HIGH SCHOOL: State individual championships set for Columbus
COLUMBUS — The Ohio seventh to 12th grade State Championships are set for HP Lanes in 2024.
The seventh to 10th grade event is March 23, with the 11th and 12th grade tourney set for March 24.
Bowlers will roll six qualifying games before the top finishers in each division will advance to the match-play championship round. Entry fee is $80, with up to $5,000 in SMART scholarships being awarded.
