GALLIPOLIS — Jackson High School sophomore Rylee Dunn captured her first Junior Tournament Bowlers Association title by topping the U15 division during the Ohio Valley Bank Youth Open at Skyline Bowling Center.
Dunn, the No. 3 seed, defeated Erica Swartz 307-304 to claim the win in the title match.
In other divisions:
U18 boys: No. 2 seed Hayden Tarris stopped No. 4 seed Caelan Guthrie 479-458 to top the field.
U18 girls: No. 2 seed Haley Grabowski defeated No. 1 seed Emma Yoder, a Triway senior, 383-329. Yoder led qualifying with 1,013 total pinfall for five games, the only girl to average 200.
U15 boys: Top-seeded Elliott Gordon defeated No. 3 Isaiah Durflinger 461-433 to win.
U12: No. 2 Aaron Cabiness stopped No. 1 seed Asa Wilson-Perry 387-307 for the win.

JTBA: BIG WEEKEND IN DAYTON
DAYTON — A pair of youth events were conducted at Beaver-Vu Bowl in Beavercreek during the Labor Day weekend.
With a unique format during the Midwest USA Scholarship Tournament on Saturday, Andrew Pride (U18 boys), Kaylie Hoff (U18 girls), Isaiah Durflinger (U15 boys), Gracie Dunne (U15 girls) and Aaron Cabiness (U12) emerged with wins.
Then, during Sunday’s JTBA Ratba-Wright State University Raider Classic, Josh Meslanich (U18 boys), Bethany Strong (U18 girls), Elliott Gordon (U15 boys), Sophia DeLuccia (U15 girls) and Asa Wilson-Perry (U12) earned victories.
The next JTBA event is Oct. 1 at Poelking Lanes South in Dayton.
H.S. BOWLING: JACKSON SETS OPEN GYM
NORTH CANTON — Jackson High School’s bowling program will be holding open gyms from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Oct. 6, 13, 20, 27 at Park Centre Lanes.
New coaches Dustin Dingler and Bill Dunn announced the open gyms will carry a $5 charge per bowler and are open to interested high school students in grades nine through 12.
Tryouts for the Polar Bears’ 2023-24 bowling teams will be held Nov. 3, 6 and 7 also at Park Centre.
YOUTH TOURNEY: STARK USBC SETS EVENT
CANTON — The Stark County USBC will hold a Youth Singles Fall Tournament at noon Oct. 14 at Eastbury Bowling Center.
Entry fee is $40 per player, with competition in 18U, 15U and 12U age divisions for both boys and girls.
Bowlers will bowl four games in this handicap event, which will be contested on a house oil pattern with scholarships being awarded.
