SOB Honor Roll: Week 3

Here is our third honor roll for the 2023-24 fall-winter bowling season. 300 GAMES

DAN SIMMONS: Simmons, a 65-year-old Uniontown right-hander, had his 17th career 300 in the Ellsworth Auto Body Senior Travel League at Eastbury Bowling Center. Simmons, a retiree, hit 300 in Game 1 of his 694 series, using a Columbia 300 Command Pearl — the same ball he used to shoot his lone 800 series of 827. “Our team won. I carried a four-pin in the ninth frame, but the rest were pretty solid,” Simmons said.

DYLAN HEATON: Heaton, a 24-year-old Canton right-hander, had his first career 300 in the Hannon Electric league at Park Centre Lanes. Using a Motiv Trient Odyssey and a Motive Primal Rage, he hit 300 in Game 1 of his 639 series. “I’ll remember beating my brother to the first sanctioned 300,” Heaton said.

CHANCE MATTERN: Mattern, a 28-year-old Canton right-hander, had his 11th career 300 during the Pizza Oven Classic league at Park Centre Lanes. Using a Storm IQ Tour, he hit 300 in Game 1 of his 743 series. He has a high career series of 773. “My teammate arrived late during the fist game so I had to wait for him to bowl seven frames before bowling again,” Mattern said. “I thought he iced me and was very nervous.”

MARK LAMP: Lamp, a 55-year-old Plain Township right-hander, had his 18th career 300 in the Hannam Electric league at Park Centre. Using his Roto Grip Daredevil Trick, he hit 300 in Game 2 of his 680 series. He has seven career 800 series with a high of 815. “I’ll remember making a ball change on the fill ball the previous game,” Lamp said.

JEFF MOWLS: Mowls, a 56-year-old Plain Township left-hander, had his 42nd career 300 in the Hannon Electric league at Park Centre. Using a Global 900 Zen Gold Label, Mowls shot 800 in Game 3 of his 698 series. He owns 22 career 800 series with a high of 868. “I’ll remember telling (Dan) Block that I was bowling a f——-g 300 before starting the third game,” Mowls said.

OTHER 300 GAMES REPORTED THIS WEEK: Brian Ball (Eastbury); Frank Blough (Triway); Chad Roberts (Park Centre); Vicktor Varner (Station 300 Akron).

800 SERIES THIS SEASON

(Total 800 series: 4): Jim Fellows (Wayne Lanes) 824; Derek Duncan (Triway Lanes) 816; Camron Little (Eastbury) 811; Mike Thewes (AMF Hall of Fame) 802.
