CANTON — With a week of bowling in the books already, the Stark County High School Bowling Conference is ready to begin its weekly “Bowlers of the Week” program.
This week, the conference had three bowlers nominated and — for the first time in conference history — all three received honors.
Here are this week’s honorees:
GIRLS
RYLEE DUNN
Soph., Jackson
What I like best about bowling: I have met some greasy people along my journey so far. This include adults who have helped me in so many ways. And also meeting and becoming friends with so many young bowlers like myself of all different skill levels.
Favorite music: Country
Favorite band/singler: Randy Travis
Favorite school subject: Science, chemistry
Favorite teacher: Mr. Zinc
In 10 years I want to be: Pediatric oncology nurse
About Dunn: She had a two-game series of 457 in the first match against United Local. In using her last year’s average of 180.13, she was over average by 62-plus pins in Game 2. She exceeded last year’s finishing average by 96 pins for series.
What her coach says: “Rylee is definitely the team leader when it comes to bowling performance on the lanes. She is always trying her best to will her team to success. For example, in the Early Bird tournament, she didn’t have the greatest two-game series. However, once we go into the Baker games, she really didn’t miss. She had multiple games where she threw two strikes to catapult Jackson into the seventh seed and the first cut in nearly 10 years.” — Bill Dunn
BOYS
ETHAN HIVELY
Sr., United Local
What I like best about bowling: Being able to hang out with my best buds.
Favorite music: Hip-hop
Favorite band: Death Grips
Favorite school subject: Biology

About Hively: Third season to date … district qualifier as an individual his sophomore season, district team qualifier as a junior. … Made Muskingum all-tournament team last season. … First team all-conference last season. … Holds school record for high average.
What his coach says: “Ethan never picked up a bowling ball until his sophomore year of high school. He started as a traditional three finger bowler, but due to a thumb injury, switched to two-handed. He is a very hard worker and dedicated bowler. He was unanimously voted by his coaches and teammates as team captain this season.” — Gary Herold
