Jackson’s Donivin Gillono received honorable-mention honors.

Here is a look at this week’s honorees:

GIRLS

KAYLEE HOLLER

Lake, senior

What I like best about bowling: “Bowling is different than other sports. Bowling brings friendships you never thought you’d have, challenges to overcome and lessons you never knew you needed. Bowling teaches you patience and a focus on the small details.”

Favorite music: Country

Favorite band/singer: Carrie Underwood

Favorite school subject: History

Favorite teacher: Mrs. Boxler and Mrs. Duncan

In 10 years I want to be: “I want to be an ultrasound technician, helping people figure out their medical issues. I want to make people smile and laugh, even when times are hard, even when they are nervous for a medical exam. I can crack a joke to make them smile.”

About Holler: Kaylee rolled games of 235 an 214 for a 449 series in Lake’s match vs. Minerva. This is significantly higher than Kaylee’s final average of 161.9 from last season. Her 235 game also is her career high.

What her coach says: “Kaylee brings a great attitude to the team. She always has a smile and never lets the challenges of a rough game weigh on her. She comes to practice each day with an open mind, willing to incorporate coaching recommendations into her practice routines. She had dedicated a significant amount of time working on spare shooting, and especially the pesky corner pins. Kaylee’s improved average and scores are a testament to her hard work and  great attitude when she shows up to bowl.” — coaches Pat King and Jeff Mowls

BOYS

JONATHAN WAGGONER

Junior, Canton McKinley

What I like best about bowling: I like bowling because it challenges me to be my best and I make a lot of friends on the way.”

Favorite music: 60’s, 80’s and 90’s music

Favorite band/singer: The Beach Boys

Favorite school subject: Math

Favorite teacher: Mr. Pukys

In 10 years I want to be: I’m still not sure where I want to be in 10 years.

About Waggoner: Jonathan has started off this season with his mind set and goal to achieve. First up was the conference Early Bird Tournament and Jon was MVP with a 524 series opening up our season. Jon shot a 288 and 206 for a 247 average.

What his coach says: “I know the season is young, but I love the concentration and focus that Jon has right now as a junior. He has become a great leader to our program. I’m very excited to  see what this season has in store for Jon. He’s a great kid and a great bowler.” — coach Kim Heaton

Senior, North Canton Hoover

What I like best about bowling: How competitive it is and that I can always better myself.
