The Stark County High School Bowling Conference announced its players of the week for Week 5 of the 2024-25 high school bowling season.
The honorees were Perry’s Eli Nave and Canton McKinley’s Maria Wise and James Tucker.

ELI NAVE
Nave, a junior for the Panthers, had games of 250 and 269 for a 519 series during a match vs. Green. Here is background on Nave:

TOURNAMENTS: BOARDMAN GIRLS TOP G-MEN
GARRETTSVILLE — Boardman High School’s girls followed their boys’ Saturday performance by topping the girls division of the G-Men Classic on Sunday at SkyLanes for the third consecutive year.
The defending state champion Spartans were the No. 1 seed in the 16-team field with 3,579 during qualifying. Kaitlyn Greenaway led the Spartans with a 606 series, and Marissa Funk added 595.
The top four teams advanced to match play after a qualifying round of three regular games and five Baker System games.
The Spartans topped fourth-seeded Austintown Fitch 2-0 in the best-of-three semifinal round before stopping No. 2 seed Fairport Harbor Harding 2-0 in the title match, winning 172-150 and 183-182, with Greenaway having a strike-spare in the 10th frame in Game 2 to clinch it.
For Fairport, McKenzie Pilny and Jillian Justinger, after participating in the Team USA Team Trials in Reno, Nev., earned spots on the all-tournament team en route to the runner-up finish.
Qualifying results and the remainder of match play were not available.
ROYALTON ROLLOFF: Parma Padua finished with 4,126 total pinfall to top a 21-team boys field during the Royalton Rolloff on Sunday. The tournament featured three regular games and five Baker System games. Cuyahoga Falls took second with 3,996, 130 pins behind Padua, with Champion finishing third. In the 15-team girls division, Magnificat topped the field by 362 pins over Midview, finishing with 3,247. Midview had 2,885, followed by Padua (2,860). See tourney results below:
SCHOLARSHIPS NOW AVAILABLE
The Stark County USBC will have six scholarships available for sanctioned high school and eligible college bowlers this season.
Each scholarship is worth $1,000, with the deadline for applications being Feb. 28. Bowlers must be USBC sanctioned to be eligible for scholarships.
Scholarships include:
- SCUSBC High School Bowling Conference Scholarship, for superior performance and excellence with the sport of bowling. The recipient must be a Stark County resident;
- Stark County USBC Massillon Scholarship, for superior performance and excellence in bowling. Open to students residing west of Perry Drive and east of the Wayne County line. Presented to one boy and one girl resident of Stark County.
- Stark County USBC Memorial Scholarship, for superior performance excellence in bowling. Two scholarships will be presented to Stark County residents.
- Stark County USBC Presidents Scholarship for individual leadership and sportsmanship. Open to Stark residents with one being presented.
