COLUMBUS — Columbus left-harder James Pack shot 300 in his final game to claim the win during the HP Lanes Singles Two-Shot Marathon on Saturday at HP Lanes.
Pack finished with 2,120 total pinfall over the eight-game event, which was contested on two HP Lanes house oil patterns — one shorter, one longer — with four games contested on each. Pack also shot 299 in Game 1 of the day.
Kokomo, Ind., left-hander Trent Marner finished second (2,066) after shooting just 204 in his final game. Ashland right-hander Ty McKinney, who shot 1,147 over the final four games, averaging 286.75 (including a 300 and 299), jumped to third (2,031) in the 114-player field.
Marner had the lead after the first four games with 1,082, a 2705 average, and just 11 pins ahead of Pack.
First place paid $1,900.
Brian Waliczek earned the final cash spot in 23th place with 1,837, finishing just three pins ahead of Norm Smith. But Smith, who finished 24th, received a $100 bonus as the high finishing senior not to cash.
Next up is the ProCore Health Brokers $4,500 Junior-Junior-Senior event set for 10 a.m. Jan. 13 at Lex Lanes in Lexington. Entry fee is $450 per team, and teams must have at least one bowler age 50 or older.
Teams will bowl five qualifying games before the field is cut to the top five or the stepladder finals.
