SOB Honor Roll: Week 10

Here is our 10th honor roll for the 2023-24 fall-winter bowling season. We may have missed a few during this five-week break. 300 GAMES

DAN BLOCK: The 54-year-old Jackson Township left-hander hit 300 during the Northeast Ohio Travel League at Park Centre Lanes. Substituting in the league, he hit 300 as part of a 754 series. He has a high career series of 856 and used the Roto Grip Haywire for his latest milestone.

CHRIS LOGAN: The 33-year-old North Canton right-hander had 300 games in back-to-back weeks in the Hannon Electric league at Park Centre Lanes. In his first one, he had 300 in Game 3 of his 771 series. He has eight career 300 games and a high career series of 798. He used the Storm Summit for his first one. “I felt a little off in practice but noticed the light hit was carrying. The pin action was the best I have had for a while,” Logan said. “It was nice to be able to shot 300 in front of my friends. My grandma calls me every Tuesday before bowling and tells me you can do it. She inspires me and I definitely dedicate the 300 to her.” 

ALLAN MCQUAID: The 62-year-old Canton right-hander had his 27th career 300 in the Eagles league at Eastbury Bowling Center. McQuaid, who is a metal fabricator for Miller Weldmaster, hit 300 in Game 2 of his 725 series using a Roto Grip Hustle. He owns 16 career 800 series. “It was just finally getting the carry I deserve,” McQuaid said.

ERIC NORCH: The 47-year-old right-hander had his 45th career 300 in the Pizza Oven Classic league at Park Centre Lanes. Norch, owner of Bierly-Litman, hit 300 in Game 2 of his 799 series. He owns seven career 800 series with a high of 857 and used the 900 Global Honey Badger for his latest milestone. “I threw one a touch heavy in the sixth frame and carried a 4-pin,” Norch said.

AUSTIN REESE: The 27-year-old Massillon right-hander had his fourth career 300 in the Pizza Oven Classic league at Park Centre Lanes. The manager at Freedom Hobby and Gaming hit 300 in Game 3 of his 773 series. He has one career 800 series (807) and used a 900 Global Zen Master for his milestone.

MIKE SPITALE JR.: The 62-year-old Canton right-hander had his 48th career 300 in the Pizza Oven Classic league at Park Center Lanes. He hit 300 in Game 1 of his 697 series using an Ebonite GameBreaker 4. He has a high career series of 828. “I missed five 10-pins and never struck on Lane 13 until the 10th frame of the last game after Game 1,” Spitale said. “After Game 1, I only shot one 4-pin and all the rest were 10-pins.”

DON SPROUT: The 66-year-old Alliance right-hander had his 24th career 300 in the Hannon Electric league at Park Centre Lanes. Sprout his 300 in Game 1 of his 698 series using a Pyramid Force. He owns nine career 800 series with a high of 842. “I threw every shot tight,” Sprout said. “I’ve never shot a 300 without a 700 or 800 series.”

JERRY WALDREN: The 63-year-old Louisville right-hander had his eighth career 300 in mixed league play at Park Centre Lanes. He hit 300 in Game 2 of his 729 series. He owns one career 800 series (812) and used the Brunswick Melee Jab for his latest milestone.

KEITH ZEIGLER: The 37-year-old thumbless right-hander had his second career 300 in the Pizza Oven Classic league at Park Centre Lanes. Zeigler, a senior sandman for Gulport Energy, shot 300 in Game 2 of his 686 series using a Storm Nova. He has two career 800 series, with a high of 833. “On the 11th ball is when I was the most nervous. I missed a couple of boards in and expected to leave a flat-10,” Zeigler said. “It carried fortunately, and I hit my mark on the 12th ball for the 300.”
