CANTON — The Greater Canton Amateur Sports Hall of Fame and Stark County USBC again is accepting nominations for the 2024 Stark County USBC Hall of Fame.
Nomination forms are available at area centers in three categories: men or women’s superior performance; meritorious service and recognition of contribution.
Qualifiers in the first two categories (A and B) must fulfill the following requirements:
- Be a 15-year member of the Stark County USBC and a participant in organized leagues for 15 years (that includes Greater Canton Bowling Association, Canton Women’s Bowling Association, Massillon and Alliance bowling association or women’s bowling associations);
- Nominee must never have been suspended by the USBC;
- Will be evaluated by a review committee to determine eligibility; and
- Male nominees must be ages 50 or older and lady nominees 40 or older.
Nomination forms turned in for 2023who were not included in the final class of enshrinees will be held over for this year, but forms may be updated.
A statement explaining why the nominee should be considered for hall recognition must accompany each nomination form.

BOWLERS TO VETERANS LINK
The Stark County USBC announced a total contribution of $4,784 to the Bowlers for Veterans 2023 collection.
The total includes $2,284 contributed by bowlers at the respective Stark County centers and $2,500 contributed by the former Massillon USBC
Contributions from Stark County go to Veterans Administration hospitals in both Canton and the Louis Stokes VA in Cleveland.
SCHOOLS SET FUNDRAISERS
NORTH CANTON — The Jackson High School bowling team will be holding a scotch doubles fundraiser at 9:30 p.m. Feb. 10 at Park Centre Lanes.
Entry fee is $40 per couple for the three-game event, with drawings, gift baskets, music and snacks provided along with a cash bar. For information, call 330-904-5581 or 330-807-4305. Walk-ins will be welcome the day of the event.

STARK USBC SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE
CANTON — The Stark County USBC has applications available at area centers for college scholarships.
A total of five $500 scholarships were awarded in 2023.
Information required on the applications are school activities, honors or awards, bowling history, civic and community service, employment record, future education plans and reasons for applying. There also is an attached sheet for a coach’s evaluation and data sheet.
Applications must include an official transcript with ACT and/or SAT scores. Scholarships will be awarded during the student’s second college semester.
Application deadline is Feb. 28.
