COLUMBUS — Glenn Pilon, the No. 5 seed entering match play, defeated Jon Byers 198-182 to capture the Ohio Matchplay Tournaments’ third annual Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl Classic on Saturday at Wayne Webb’s
The event drew 32 entries on a new OMT 40-foot oil pattern. Kirby Allen was the five-game qualifying leader with 1,122, while Doug Aston won the tiebreaker to earn the final cut spot with 1,024.
Gerald Johnson and Norman Smith gained the final cash spots, with the event paying 10.
The next OMT event will be the inaugural Match Game Championship, set for 1:30 p.m. March 2 at Sequoia Pro Bowl in Columbus. Entry fee is $110.

ALLIANCE MASTERS: The second annual Alliance Masters is set for 9 a.m. Feb. 18 at three Alliance centers. Entry fee is $110, with bowlers beginning the day with a four-game qualifier at Christopher Columbus Lanes, before cuts are made to half the field and then to the top 16. Bonus pins will be awarded to the top eight finishers at Christopher Columbus, with Elks Lodge Lanes and American Legion Lanes also being used for subsequent rounds. House oil patterns will be used. SENIOR TRIO: A senior trio tournament is set for 11 a.m. Feb. 16 at Park Centre Lanes. The events is open to players age 50 or older and it is a handicap event, with handicap being based on 70 percent of a 660 cap for the three-person team. Entry fee is $105 per team, with first place being worth $750, based on 24 teams. The format is three regular games to determine a winner, Poling Painting is the tournament sponsor Brackets and eliminator side action will be available. MARCH MADNESS: The 11th annal March Madness tournament, sponsored by KreativeTouch Property Services, currently has a full field, but a waiting list has begun. The event is set for 9 a.m. March 3 at Clutch Lanes and Sports Center in Cuyahoga Falls. Entry fee is $100. The format will mirror the NCAA Basketball Tournament, with bowlers beginning with a three-game qualifying round. Bowlers will then be ranked in four divisions in the round of 64. Winners of two-game matches advance to the round of 32 with the same format to cut to subsequent rounds until the championship match. A $100 bonus will be awarded to the top seed in each division. HILES TOURNAMENTS: The third annual Tough Stuff Challenge is set for 10 a.m. Feb. 25 at Mount Lebanon Lanes near Pittsburgh. Entry fee is $110, with bowlers rolling eight qualifying games on two different oil patterns with a staggered skip before the cut. For information, go to:

DOUBLES EVENT: Valie Lanes in Jewett will be holding a doubles handicapped tournament, with shifts running weekends from March 1 through May 25. Teams can be male, female or mixed. Entry fee is $50 per team. Each team will bowl four games, dropping their lowest score and can enter as often as they like.
