CANTON — Canton McKinley senior Jonathan Waggoner established a Stark County High School Bowling Conference record Thursday with the seventh boys 300 game of the season during a match against GlenOak at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes.

The previous record for 300s in a season was six by boys, set during the 2014-15 season.

Other 300s this season have been shot by Hoover seniors Chase Wensel, Ryan Dague, Connor Lab and Manny Doerfler; Canton South senior Trevor Gore; and Massillon junior Nico Fromholtz. Gore also had his at AMF Hall of Fame.

This also ties the all-time conference record of seven in a season, also set in 2014-15 when Wooster’s Courtney Peck also had a 300 on the girls side for a total of seven.

Waggoner, who averages 203.5 for the Bulldogs, finished with a 511 series.

It was the fourth 300 game by a McKinley player, with two being shot last season by Hunter Henson and Zachary McCutchan. The other was by Brandon Pirolozzi during the 2010-11 season.

GlenOak won the match 2,887-2,456 as senior Riley Waggoner led the Golden Eagles with a 494 series and freshman Braxton Burns added 487.

FAIRLAWN — Nordonia duplicated its finishes in Suburban League preseason tournament by topping the boys and girls divisions during the conference’s postseason tournament held recently at AMF Riviera Lanes.

The Knights also shot the best in the Baker series with 962, seven ahead of Wadsworth, which finished fourth overall.

Nordonia’s Kyan Freyhauf turned in the top series with 703, followed by Robert Rompf’s 680 for Cuyahoga Falls. Twinsburg’s Lucas Tinter was third with 652.
