The Professional Bowlers Association takes center stage on the tournament scene over the next two weeks with four events scheduled, including the Tournament of Champions at AMF Riviera Lanes in Fairlawn.
Here is the list of upcoming regional events:
- The PBA Ohio Lottery/Baldo Campana-Dave D’Entremont Memorial Central Open regional event is set for Saturday and Sunday at Rebman Recreation in Lorain with a full field of 120 bowlers participating, including some PBA Tour regulars. A practice session will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday, followed by a Special Needs Pro-Am and a Junior-Adult Pro Am, beginning at 6:30 p.m. This is a one-day regional, with all players bowling eight games beginning at 8 a.m. Sunday before the field is cut to the top 16 players for match play, beginning at 1:30 p.m. Players will be bowling on the PBA Chameleon oil pattern. - The PBA50 version of the Campana-D’Entremont Memorial is sent for April 25-26 (Thursday-Friday) also at Rebman, with a practice session set for 4 to 6 p.m. April 25. A full field of 48 senior players is expected. The tourney again is a one-day affair, with bowlers bowling eight games beginning at 9 a.m. April 26 before the field is ut to the top 16 for bracket match play. Bowlers will use the PBA Mike Aulby oil pattern. There is no admission fee. See details here:
- The PBA Wabash Lanes Member-Non-member Doubles Central Open regional event is set for May 3 through 5 at Wabash Lanes in New Philadelphia. Highlight of the weekend is the high school fantasy draft, which is serving as a fund-raiser for high school bowling teams, to be held at 5:30 p.m. May 3. The tournament will include two eight-game squads at 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday before the cut is made to the top 12 for rounds of Baker System match play, set for 9 a.m. Sunday. TOC SET NEXT WEEK
Of course, the main event is the Tournament of Champions, set for April 22 through April 28 at AMF Riviera, which will be bowled on the Don Johnson 40 oil pattern.
The week begins with a high school clinic at 5 p.m. April 21, with the Pre-Tournament Qualifier tournament of seven games set for 9 a.m. April 22 with 52 players vying for eight spots in the tournament field.
The PBA Elite League will then continue its season with Rounds 13 and 14 art 6 p.m. following a 3 p.m. practice session.
The TOC officially begins at 10 a.m. April 23 with the first six-game qualifying round, with the second six-game round set for 6 p.m.
The third qualifying round is at 10 a.m. April 24, with the field then being cut to the top 24 for the first eight games of match play at 6 p.m.
Two more rounds of match play will conclude the run to the top five at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. April 25. The stepladder finals are set for 1 p.m. April 28, and will be aired live on FOX.
The PBA Elite League will also hold a second round of play at 4 p.m. on April 27, following pro-ams set for 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. that day.

MINERVA MASTERS
Chad Bell captured Sunday’s Minerva Masters at Minerva Bowl, defeating Kenny Lambert Jr. 224-209 in the title match. Bell was the No. 1 seed for the stepladder finals, which were bowled over four pairs of lanes.
Lambert topped Nick Embrogno 236-208 in the semifinals. The opening match had Sean Kelly topping Dave Biller 247-246 before Kelly fell to Embrogno 223-214 in the quarterfinals.
Eight bowlers cashed, with Jim Aufderheide earning the final cash spot with 1,072. Bowlers bowled four games before the field was cut to the top eight for one additional game in the 16-player field, with the top five advancing to the stepladder finals.
The cut following qualifying was at 863.
Bowlers must participate in a Minerva Bowl league to participate. See complete qualifying results below:
OTHER EVENTS
LEGACY MIXED DOUBLES
The team of Amber Sells and Kevin Kittell finished with 1,415 total pinfall, all scratch, to captured the 46th annual Mixed Doubles Tournament at Legacy Lanes and Lounge. The event drew 120 teams over two weekends for the handicap event.
Second place went to Nikki Wickham and Shane Wickham with 1,403, followed by Sells and Branden McVicker with 1,384.
Players could bowl more than once with different partners. The top 26 teams cashed, with the cutline being at 1,300.

STARK COUNTY USBC OPEN
The Stark County USBC will be holdings it open and women’s championships from Friday through May 6 at Park Centre Lanes in North Canton. This is a handicapped event.
The women’s event is Friday and Saturday (five-woman teams) and April 26 and 27 (doubles and singles) Entry fee is $20 per event, with a $2 additional all-events fee.
The open event is April 28 through May 3 (team event) and May 5 through 10 (singles and doubles). Entry fees are the same for the open championships.

UPCOMING JUNIOR EVENTS
STARK USBC JUNIOR-ADULT SCHOLARSHIP: The Stark County USBC will hold at junior-adult scholarship tournament June 2 at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes. Entry fee is $50 per team, with competition in three divisions (18U, 15U, 12U). This is a handicapped event. Shift times are at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

STARK CONFERENCE COACH-ATHLETE: The Stark County High School Bowling Conference’s coach-athlete tournament date has been changed due to a conflict. The new date is noon May 19 at Park Centre Lanes in North Canto. Cost is $20 per team, with teams rolling two individual games and six Baker System games. All coaches and league administrators are eligible to participate with high school athletes. Contact Commissioner J.C. Heighway to enter.
UPCOMING ADULT EVENTS
FURBAY OPEN : The 22nd annual Furbay Electric Open is set fro 9 a.m. May 5 at Bowlero Hall of Fame Lanes. Entry fee for the event is $80, with bowlers rolling five qualifying games before the field is cut to the top 16 (72-player field) or 20 (if 80 or more) for rounds of two-game match play until either four or five remain for a traditional stepladder finals. TRIWAY LANES: Triway Lanes will hold a King of the Hill tournament at 7 p.m. May 10. Entry fee is $40 for the scratch event to be bowled on a modified house oil pattern. Bowlers will roll four qualifying games. The top four to 16 (depending on field size) advance to single elimination match play until one remains. HIT DEM POCKETS: HDP also has set several events for the coming months:
- A Scratch Doubles event is set for 7 p.m. May 24 at Freeway Lanes in Parma. Entry fee is $120 with teams bowling three games.
- The HDP Masters is May 25 and 26 at RollHouse Parma. Entry fee is $125. Bowlers will roll five qualifying games Saturday morning then five more games in the afternoon until the field is cut to the top 16. Those bowlers will return Sunday morning (Saturday pinfall carries over) for five more games until the field is cut to the top eight for two-game match play. Following that round, the four winners will bowl in a stepladder format. First place will be worth $2,500.
- HDP Scratch Mixed Shootout is at 7 p.m. June 28 at North Woods Lanes in Macedonia. Entry fee is $120, with teams bowling three games.
- HDP Queens is June 29 and 30 at North Woods Lanes in Macedonia. Entry fee is $105, with first place being worth $2,500. Trisha Reid is the defending champion. Bowlers will bowl four games Saturday morning and four more Saturday afternoon before the field is cut to the top 16 for four more games Sunday, with pins from Saturday carrying over. After those four games, the field will be cut to the top eight for two-game match play by seed. Those winners will then bowl a stepladder finals.

OHIO MASTERS: The 2024 Bowler X Ohio Masters will be held Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 at Eastbury Bowling Center in Canton. The event is open only to adult bowlers sanctioned in Ohio. No youth bowlers are permitted to enter. Entry fee is $100. Bowlers will bowl five qualifying games beginning at 11 a.m. Aug. 31. The field then will be cut to the top 50 percent of the field, which will bowl five additional games at 5:30 p.m. with pins from the early block carrying over. The field then will be cut again to the top 32 (based on 120 entries) for single-elimination, two-game match play by seed until a champion is declared. The field is limited to 128 players.
