HEATH — Kyle Dunne, Kendall Craig, Max Weken and Alyssa Bechtol earned title as the Junior Tournament Bowlers Association held its 44th annual JTBA-Henson Bowling Academy Champions last weekend at Park Lanes.
During the two-day event, bowlers rolled two five-game qualifying blocks on two different sport oil patterns before each age division (boys and girls 18U, boys and girls 15U were cut to the top four to eight bowlers for round-robin match play to determine the champions, with bonus pins being awarded for match-play wins and ties.
Dunne topped the boys 18U with 4,348 total pinfall, with Hayden Tarris (4,065) and Brendan Tahsler (4,031) finishing second and third, respectively, in the 25-player field. Dunne earned a $900 scholarship.
In the girls 18U division, Craig finished with 2,834 to top the nine-player field, with Bethany Strong taking second (2,666) and Mackenzie Pilny third (2,605). Craig earned $500 in the nine-player field.
In the boys 15U division, Oaken finished with 3,024 to top the field, with Tim Campbell second (2,863) and Drew Parker third (2,839). Oaken earned $550 in the 11-player field.
Bechtol topped the girls 15U division with 2,620, followed by Gracie Dunne (2,4395), Aria Ragland (2,370) and Rylee Dunn (2,295) in the six-player field. Bechtol earned $330.
In addition, season-long special awards were presented to bowlers for their performances. Each earned $25 in scholarship money.

BOYS: 18 bowler of the year—Isaiah Shannon; 18U high average—Hayden Tarris 218.61; 18U sportsman—Joshua Maslanich; 15U bowler of the year—Isaiah Durflinger; 15U high average—Max Oaken 213.10; 15U sportsmanship—Zachary Smeal; 12U bowler of the year—Aaron Cabiness; 12U high average—Aaron Cabinets 177.83; 12U sportsmanship—Aaron Cabiness
GIRLS: 18U bowler of the year—Bethany Strong; 18U high average—Emma Yoder 194.70; 18U sportsmanship—Madison Strouse; 15U bowler of the year—Gracie Dunne; 15U high average—Rylee Dunn 169.72; 15U sportsmanship—Gracie Dunne.
This marks the final JTBA tournament of the 2023-24 season.

STARK USBC JUNIOR-ADULT: The Stark County USBC will be holding a Junior-Adult Spring Scholarship tournament on June 2 at AMF Hall of Fame Lanes. Shift times are set for 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., with the format being three regular games. This is a handicap event, with handicap being 85 percent of 440 combined averages. Competition will be in three age divisions. Entry fee is $50 per team. See entry information below.
