CANTON — Rocco Ferruccio, longtime owner of Eastbury Bowling Center, died Wednesday following a long illness.

The death of the 83-year-old Ferruccio was confirmed in a statement released by Eastbury:

“Although this was sad, it was not unexpected. Rocco’s wife, Trisha, has

been running Eastbury during Rocco’s illness and would like to assure all of you that she intends to continue running Eastbury’s operations as normal for the foreseeable future. There will be no change to management or plans,” according to the statement.

Also in the statement, Eastbury’s staff thanked patrons for their “concern, well wishes and loyalty.”

“Please know that we fully intend to reward that loyalty by continuing Eastbury’s tradition as a center of family entertainment in this community.”

Per Ferruccio’s wishes, no services or calling hours will be held.

STRIKE ZONE CLOSES FOR SUMMER

CANTON — Strike Zone Lanes proprietor Debbie Kasapis announced last week that the center will be closed for the rest of the summer months.

In a statement on Facebook, Kasapis wrote, “To address all the FALSE RUMORS…. Strike Zone is closed for the Summer. We have always closed for the Summer months. There were a lot of factors that went into my decision, it has never been a decision taken lightly. If you have questions… ask me.”

Strike Zone closed in late July 2023 for the remainder of the summer and reopened the first week in October. Electrical issues were cited as part of the problem at that time.

The center remains up for sale.

ALLEY IN THE VALLEY SOLD

EAST SPARTA — The former Alley in the Valley (previously East Sparta Recreation) again has changed owners.

Bryce and Tammy Langford took over the lanes in October 2022. They put it up for auction in September 2023 due to the family’s move to the Columbus area. The center did not sell at auction and the family retained control, opening only on weekends, until its recent sale.

According to a Facebook statement, the new owners are in the process of doing renovations and plan to reopen in August.

No other information was available at this time. We have contacted the new owners via their Facebook page but they have yet to respond.
