AKRON — Brandon White averaged 254.16 to top the list of 49 qualifiers who will bowl Sunday’s first cashers’ round during the Akron Open singles at Station 300.
White, who bowled on the A qualifying squad, finished with 1,525 to lead the field after six games, with Parma’s Patrick Dombrowski, the high finisher one B squad, taking second with 1,510.
The remainder of the top five include Cassidy Schaub, the defending Akron Open champion, with 1,500; Ryan Liederbach, who has four PBA Central Region titles this season, with 1,492; and Simon Mote with 1,462.
A squad willl send 29 bowlers to the cashers’ round, with 27 coming from B squad. Caden Millisor gained the final qualifying spot with 1,347, an average of 224.5. He finished five pins ahead of Jake Monto (1,342).
Sunday’s first five-game cashers’ round, with pinfalls carry over, begins at 9 a.m. Following that round, the field then will be cut to the top 24, who will bowl five more games.
Following that round, the top five will bowl the stepladder finals for the title.
