H.S. bowling: SCHSBC Players of Week for Week 1

The Stark County High School Bowling Conference announced its player of the week for Week 1 of the 2024-25 high school bowling season.

The honorees were Minerva ’s Landon Jones and Canton McKinley’s Haleigh Leggett. Here is information as provided by the conference:

LANDON JONES

Jones, a senior, had a 478 series in a match against Canton McKinley at Minerva Bowl. He was an honorable mention Eastern Buckeye Conference pick last season and is a two-year letterman.

What do you like best about bowling? The people that we meet.

What are you listening to now? Country music.

Favorite band/singer? Gavin Adcock

Favorite school subject? Forensic science

Favorite teacher? Mr. Mikes

In 10 years I want to be … Graduated from college, serving my years in the service.

HALEIGH LEGGETT

Leggett, also a senior, had a 466 series against Minerva at Minerva Bowl and also shot a 427 two-game series during the SCHSBC Early Bird tournament at Park Centre Lanes.

What do you like best about bowling? When I get to be with friends and be myself. Also, I like to be with my coach Kim (Heaton).

What are you listening to now? I focus in the bowling alley, but before bowling I listen to god only knows to help encouragement.

Favorite band/singer? One Direction, Harry Styles

Favorite school subject? Anatomy

Favorite teacher? Mr. Smith

In 10 years I want to be … “We like how Haleigh is performing. It is early in the season, but we are confident that Haleigh will continue performing plus be a team leader.” Kim Heaton
