H.S. bowling: SCHSBC players of the week; Week 2 statistics

The Stark County High School Bowling Conference announced its players of the week for Week 2 of the 2024-25 high school bowling season.

The honorees were Carrollton’s Kaylee Russell and Louisville’s Abigail Wenger in the girls division, and Jackson’s Alex Lovas and Green’s Anthony Bordonaro in the boys division.

GIRLS

KAYLEE RUSSELL

Russell, a junior, shot 245 and 193 for a 437 series in a match against East Liverpool at Atwood Lanes. Here is background on Russell:

What do you like best about bowling? I like bowling because it connects me to my roots of family bowling. Also, it has given me so many opportunities that only it could do. I also like bowling because it gives you new friendships and self confidence. I love bowling because it’s my home away from home .

What are you listening to now? Zach Bryan, Morgan Wallen, Lainey Wilson, Tyler Childers, Treaty Oak Revival, Jessie Murph, Zach Top.

Favorite band/singer? Morgan Wallen

Favorite school subject? College algebra

ABIGAIL WENGER

A senior, Wenger set a school record for high girls game with a 256 in a match against Minerva. Here is background on Wenger:

ALEX LOVAS

Lovas, a senior, shot 513 with games of 266 and 247 in a match against GlenOak. He has a 228 average after Week 2. Here is background on Lovas:

ANTHONY BORDONARO

Bordonaro, a Green senior, rolled a 300 game and finished with a 509 series in a match against GlenOak at Eastbury Bowling Center. It was his first 300 in conference play and topped his previous high two-game series of 504. He was a first-team all conference and All-Federal League pick last season and a three-year scholar-athlete selection. Here is background on Bordonaro.
