CUYAHOGA FALLS — The Cuyahoga Falls boys and Roostown girls captured titles during the 2025 Clutch Classic high school bowling tournament Saturday at Clutch Lanes.
The tournament format was three regular games and six Baker System games to determine the champions.
The Black Tigers boys finished with 4,466 total pinfall, including leading the three-game part of the event with 3,199. Rootstown took second with 4,103 in the eight-team field.
Cuyahoga Falls turned in the top Baker total with 1267.
Wooster’s boys finished third with 3,841, gutting in the second-highest Baker total (1,153).
Individually for the boys, Rootstown’s Justin Miller topped the field with 758, followed by Cuyahoga Falls’ Adam Walters (742) and Copley’s Michael Molnar (739). They were the only boys to crack the 700 mark.
In the girls division, Rootsown rolled to the title with 3,699, finishing 459 pins ahead of second-place Walsh Jesuit (3,240), with Wooster taking third, finishing 13 pins (3,227) b behind Walsh in the seven-team field.
Individually, Tallmadge’s Grace Tackett topped the field with the lone girls 600 series of 622. She was followed by Rootstown’s Kaitlyn Hammerschmidt (597) and Wooster’s Mackenzie Jentes (590).

BUCKEYE CLASSIC
COLUMBUS — St. Marys Memorial boys and girls claimed titles during the annual Buckeye Classic on Saturday at HP Lanes, sponsored by the Ohio State Bowling Club.
In the girls division No. 1 seed St. Marys Memorial topped Mechanicsburg in the best-of-five Baker System finals 3-2, winning Game 5 179-139.
In the boys division, No. 4 seed St. Marys Memorial swept past No. 3 Mechanicsburg 3-0 to claim the title.
Qualifying for the event, which included 19 boys and girls teams, consisted of three regular games and four Baker System before the respective fields were cut to the top eight for best-of-three match-play during the the first three rounds, with the finals being best of five.
Individually, Mechanicsburg’s Chris Ritchie led the field with 719, while Gahanna Lincoln’s Mitchell Genson and Mansfield’s Jayden Jordan tied for second at 703.
Leading the girls individuals was St. Marys’ Kallie McKinney with 653, followed by Mechanicsburg’s Ashton Waller (641) and Worthington Oil Bourne’s AJ Brockway (628).
Canton McKinley did not make the cut in either division, with the girls finishing ninth.
